Whoa... I'll have to check mine with my gauges tonight and report back. It is a whole lot flatter than my Lee Ranaldo JM and I assumed that it must be 9.5". Will report back.

"Slim" is definitely a relative term. I didn't think I needed to explain this on this forum .
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

Just order a custom neck to your liking and sell the JM neck that comes on it.

Re: Jazzmaster with 9.5 fretboard radius and slimmest neck profile?
I measured both JMs this morning and have some results that I find interesting.
The Lee Ranaldo is a definite 7.25" radius
The TVL kind of fits both the 9" and the 7.25". The neck has a flatter center (between the G & D strings) than the Lee Ranaldo and then the shoulders roll off rather more quickly and are then inline with a 7.25" radius. So, it is sort of a 9" in the middle and 7.25" on the shoulders.
All of the above is very slight and is really down to a millimeter or less. Even with the tiny bit of measurable differences, the difference in feel is huge. My all time favorite neck is the one on my late '80's Clapton Strat and that is a 9.5" radius with rather pronounced "V" for an electric guitar. It's not like my old Regal acoustic with a hard "V" but still more prominent than any other electric I own (out of 20).
The TVL has one of the best feeling necks, definitely in the top 5, of the guitars that I own. The Lee Ranaldo: Not even close.
It could all just be normal variance although I assume that these things are CNC'd these days and that the profiles are rather more intentional.
Nothing more to add, really. Take this information for whatever good it may bring.

A mm of difference would quite significant for this spec. My TVL was 7.25, more or less. It had a habit of fretting out if I didn’t put a big amount of relief in it. On the other hand my Fender 50s Classic Tele bended fine. CNC starts the process, but hand sanding finishes things up, or so I’d imagine in Ensenda.Kent wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 2:09 amI measured both JMs this morning and have some results that I find interesting.

A long standing complaint of mine - Fender US is obsessed with larger necks. That’s why there is an ocean of Nocaster Relics on the used market along with ‘54 Strats... people convince themselves it’s the way to go and after a while their poor aching hands tell them otherwise.

Definitley go try them, the Am Pro has a nice neck, odd contour but you may like it. The TVL is obviously a MexiAVRI, so it may be closest to what you want. However Im in the same camp, looking at an American Original. Didn't want to spend the money, but the times are a changin. The necks are also very nice if you can try one out!

If you have access to the Mod Shop, then you are in luck. The Jazzmaster has the option of the Professional neck (deep C) or the Elite neck (C to D), both in 9.5" rosewood. One issue you have to contend with is no choice of pickup (unless you change them out later), the V-Mods are the only ones available at the moment. Another issue you have is a multitude of great colour options to choose from. And it comes with .009s.

I’m with you on that one. Lots of models these days come with huge necks. I have come across several nice looking Fenders recently only to frown and put them back after I feel how fat the neck is. I recently bought a Squier VM Mustang and even that has a somewhat fat neck, which is odd for a Mustang. I bought it anyway because I love the vintage white finish and the price was right. I was planning to give it to my daughter when she’s got bigger hands, but I’ll need to replace the neck to an old school Mustang or MusicMaster neck.Marc wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 12:50 amA long standing complaint of mine - Fender US is obsessed with larger necks. All of my guitars have large necks and my hands don’t ache like they used to with thinner necks. Go figure.Marc wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 12:50 amA long standing complaint of mine - Fender US is obsessed with larger necks. The slimmest US Fender Jazzmaster neck they have made with a 9.5 radius would be found on the original run of AVRI ‘62 Thin Skins. The only other option would be contacting Fender’s Custom Shop, having a standard 62 AVRI neck re-radiused from 7.25, or deviating from an actual Fender made instrument.

I have a ‘62 Custom Shop with a slim C neck and 9.5” radius. It is a great neck.
