Strat Mini Humbuckers In A Jag?

Post by Kylef » Fri Oct 12, 2018 1:09 pm

Anyone tried this? I have two Marr Jags, I've noticed he has what looks like a JB Jr in his latest blue one.

I'm thinking about a Little '59 in mine for a changeup with the covers band. Anyone tried this? Do they fit through the Jag pickguard? Will I have problems with a 4 conductor pickup?

They should fit if you get pickups with a straight baseplate like these:

Not these:

When I bought my first AVRI Jag there was a Seymour Duncan in there that fit with no mods. You should be fine.

I took it out as fast as I could!

Not all years of Seymour Duncan Strat-sized buckers fit. All new ones do- but older models of the same pickups have the triangular baseplate and won't fit.

The one in the OP's pic seem to fit the bill.

If you mean the model of Jaguar, I really liked it. It was an early AVRI in Sherwood green. Aside from the unwanted mini humbucker, the only 'issues' were neck aesthetics: I wanted a matching headstock and blocks and binding.

I think the question was about the pickup

He has the pickups and sustainer from an ed o'brien strat in one of his LPB jags on this tour. For the sustained solo bit at the end of Hi Hello. In one of the studio radio sessions video you can see the little switches

:-[

It was some white Seymour Duncan mini humbucker that people stick in Fenders all the time-- they all look the same to me. It was like ten years ago or something.

I wanted a 'correct' AVRI with proper single coils. I have never been a fan of humbuckers in Fenders.
