Mustang with a gold pickguard question?

Post by jesterpunk68 » Mon Sep 24, 2018 7:04 pm

I have a squier vm mustang in vintage white like this.

And I like the look of the JMJM too

The bodies on both seem to be almost the same color, so I was wondering what the mustang would look like with a gold pickguard and if anyone knows where I can get one? The dressing room only has jaguars and jazzmasters as options and I can't find a way to mock up a mustang to check. Does anyone know where I could do a mockup or has anyone done something like that?

This can give you another example of how it might look:

Can't help with where to get one tho... specially if you want the aluminum one. Some sellers do it with transparent plexiglass painted gold on the back, which looks good too, but different.
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

WD does a faux anodized finish for a Mustang guard:

I was kind of thinking about getting one of those Jay Turser Mustang clones in white and putting a gold guard on it, great minds etc.

The biggest issue you'll run into is whether or not you like the gold up against the silver plates, or if you want a custom guard cut with a control panel on it like that duo-sonic above.

If you use the dressing room to put a gold guard on a jag, you'll get a good impression of how the gold looks against silver control panels.

I had the same WD brushed gold pickguard & it’s a green gold as opposed to an ideal yellow gold. Depends how anal one is for the color. I removed mine after a couple years. It just didn’t look right.
