Bridge thimbles in new US Jags/JM's

Post by CROSS_guitars » Tue Sep 18, 2018 11:52 pm

I've seen a few of the new US Jazzmasters in stores. I noticed they have plastic bridge thimbles.
Has anyone else noticed this?
If anyone owns one, can you tell me if the entire thimble is plastic or is it just a top washer to stop the bridge rocking back and forth?

Yes these have been noticed. Only on Am Pro JM and jag AFAIK (so far). And it's a regular thimble with a bushing insert ...

Cool thanks.

I'm quite keen on the idea.
I'm tired of wrapping tape around the posts. These look way more 'pro'
Might get my own 3D printed ones made.

Flanged bushings do seem to be readily available. eg

I am guessing 8mm OD and about 10mm long might be about right, awaiting measurements on the real thing.
The material properties are less certain.

No problem. Let us know how you go if you do go down that route.
