60th Anniversary Classic sent back

The blonde is really beautiful. I wanted to get a Squier Bullet JM to stick my Filtertrons in, but now I'm thinking about buying the blonde and the Filtertrons go in my JMJM. Good idea, right?

The question is if there is going to be a standard MIM model in nice colors (probably not, probably Sunburst, CAR and Olympic White only and definitely no matching headstock) after the 60th Anniversary are sold out, because how limited is this "limited edition"?

I already got a bunch of guitars with Filtertrons, now I want to put Jazzmaster pickups in everthing and wire them all with a Rhythm circuit.

Bought an AVRI tremolo tailpiece with the the lock for $67 from Chicago music exchange. Totally worth it. I actually play my 60th MIM as much as my Americans original. 50/50. They are great guitars!

How would you describe the neck on 60th MIM in comparison to the AO JM?

It’s actually thinner than the AO. Width is about the same. I love the punchiness of the Pau Ferro fretboard, which helps offset the tone of the pickups so they aren’t too dark or too bright. Overall It’s different enough that I feel like it has its own unique characteristics, but still plays, sounds, and looks like a Jazzmaster!

I was hoping that the necks on the 60th MIM are chunkier than those on 60s lacquer JM.
Issues with my fretting hand lead me towards AO JM.

Now that you mention the 60’s Lacquer JM, that’s the same neck they are using on the 60th Anniversary’s! I knew that neck played familiar.

Not 100% sure. I guess from playing my other Jazzmasters and various other guitars both plugged in and acoustically, I kind of came to that conclusion. The 60th Anniversary is also the only guitar I own out of a dozen, with Pau Ferro. But maybe it’s just the pickups themselves? I have played other guitars (that I do not own) with Pau Ferro boards and they too had a similar characteristic. I think they sound and feel great.

Depends on how well they sell, I'd guess. A standard MIM version with the proper bridge and dot neck (no binding, modern frets) would be awesome.

That is extremely interesting. I guess I’ll have to watch more YouTube.

I thought I'd offer an update on my black 60ty Anniversary Jazzmaster Classic. Re: the PF fretboard, the first one of these delivered to me, the one I sent back due to excessive ground noice, had a very light, washed out looking fretboard. The next one shipped, my keeper, has a MUCH darker PF fretboard. Very much like rosewood. I assume there is a lot of variability in PF wood. It feels, looks and sounds great. Also, although the second one shipped had much less ground noise, although it was still noticable. I spent a little more money ( close to $400 ) on a bone nut, Staytrm bridge, fret filing, setup and, most importanlty, to have the guitar properly shielded. There was zero shielding inside the cavity. The tech ( Rob at Soundpure Guitars in Durham, NC ) grounded everything in every which way he could. The result, this is the nicest guitar I have ever owned. Dead quiet ( some very faint 60 cycle hum ) and sounds and plays like butter. I know everyone says these pickups are just noisy by nature, but these are dead quiet after proper shielding. And they sound FANTASTIC !!!! Sure, I could have gotten a used American made AVRI model for the same money, but this thing is awesome. It rocks. The money spent to make this guitar the best it could be was worth every penny and then some. Rob is a great tech and a great guy if you live close by and need some guitar work. Bottom line is that I'm over the moon happy with this guitar.
