Trem arm 'mod' - some tape?

Easier to put a slight kink in the short section of the arm...
Yeah that was the joke :D

I remember seeing MBV listed on Mastery's website as endorsees, I wonder if this means Fender might come out with a Mastery Licensed bridge sort of like they did on the Johnny Marr Jag, plus a modded arm, like a longer bit that goes into the collett and a lighter spring? Not sure about the bridge, may be a long shot, but the arm stuff seems more likely. Still a cool idea, that CAR Jazzmaster of his is smart looking, I'd love to see what they do

Just a thought:

J Mascis wasn't exactly associated with a purple sparkle or banana pudding white JM with gold guards until he got them as signature models, either. If anything sunburst tort is the one he's known for.

Same with both sonic youth models. No reason why a Kevin Shields jazzmaster has to look like something he already owns.

It should look at least like the loveless guitar to me or like a burgundy mist jag he has :D

Maybe just a signature roll of tape

They could make a taller arm though. So you won't need the tape and the arm won't fall off

Exactly right! Same with Troy Van Leeuen. I think the artist comes up with the finish option just based on what they think would look cool not necessarily something 100% accurate to their popular guitar.

The Cobain Jag is pretty accurate but he’s not around to work with Fender to come up with different color combos and such.

I just saw Fender posted a new video with a similar aesthetic to the Kevin Shields ones on Kyle Hunt from the Black Angels. So unless they're planning on giving him a sig too I assume this is just a marketing ploy to garner even more interest in the Jazzmaster on it's 60th anniversary.

Hmm.... interesting. I think you may be right about it being a marketing ploy. I noticed he had a Mastery on his, which he didn't mention in the video. I wonder why? :shifty:

You have to consider that the real Cobain sig was the Jagstang. Similar to guitars he had used, but again, very different and new.
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

I don't think there's any reason to expect custom models to come from Kevin Shields or any of the many other interviews that are being featured for the 60th anniversary.

This is just a series honoring Jazzmaster users. I think we should appreciate that for the gift that it is with gratefulness and pride in supporting a long under appreciated instrument.

Apart from the fact that apparently someone on here asked him directly and apparently he said yes.

A custom shop model was mentioned as a possibility wasn't it, whoever asked him.

For sure. Yeah I don’t think this is a signature thing at all and from the marketing it never really seemed like it. It’d be different if they posted “next week we continue our appreciation for the jazzmaster with a very special announcement” but it didn’t it just said “a very special artist.”

Still though, would love to see a Kevin Shields Signature and think it’s insane that Troy fucking Van Leeuwen has one and he doesn’t, regardless of troys excellent tastes in designing the thing.
