I routed mine for humbuckers and put a Mustang bridge on it. I like a lot. That's probably not your aesthetic, and it's definitely more than your $50 budget, but I think the important thing to note is that whatever you do to yours, it's a surprisingly good guitar out of the box and it takes mods really well. I'm sure you'll be happy with it whatever you end up doing.
Picture?
Sounds good
routing is a no-no as I only want to make reversable changes (and I can't exactly do that in a flat anyway!)
£50ish budget was just for the bridge - I'm happy to spend £100+ on pickups

Looks good - definitely prefer the tortoiseshell to white!
Sure, here's mine:

I basically built mine from the bottom up. A few years ago, I found a person selling a stripped VM Jag. It only came with the neck, body and trem. Everything else I had to source. Wilkinson tuners, Fender Control plates, wiring harness from eyeguitarparts, cream knobs, Magic Dragon pickups from Rose, mustang bridge, and a white pearl pickguard. I painted the metal wheels white to go with the all white theme. I’m still working out a couple of wiring issues but I’m pretty happy with it.

Which Mustang bridge did you use?

Just the normal big-barrel one. This was a cheap build for me since I had almost all the parts on hand already. I normally use the Warmoth modified bridge in my offsets, but this was in my parts bin and works just fine.
