My Lakland HB30 bass
I think this qualifies as an offset bass doesn't it? I got this one in 2015 and it has been my main player ever since. It can with half grounds, and I tried flats for a while, but now I have round wound strings on it and it really sounds great.

Re: My Lakland HB30 bass
Leo Fender defined an offset guitar as one that has between a 10-degree and 25-degree angle between the upper and lower waist. (though, he was much more technical than that)
So... no. Not an offset.

That Lakland reminds me of the Ovation Magnum bass. They are great instruments. Ovation made some very good electrics that had some real innovation. What holds them back is they are all pretty ugly.
Heard some YT demos and they are impressive.

I was thinking the same thing. I had a Magnum 1 for a very long time and finally sold it last year. It was very solid, quite heavy and I liked how it looked, odd as it was. Neck humbucker was cool but the bridge pickup was very thin sounding. One thing I didn’t like was that everything was unique to the Magnum, and stuff like that makes me wary of all non-Fender bass theses days.Marc wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 12:44 amThat Lakland reminds me of the Ovation Magnum bass. Uh, I just acquired one in a trade and I'm happy with it. I'm a long time fan of short scale basses and I can say this model really pushes forward in the evolution of short scale bass.
Plek'd neck, regular string spacing on your right hand, no rattling floating bridge, hollow non-hollow body (so you can place a bolted bridge on it) no neck dive and two high output far apart pickups for a decent versatility.
A very, very intresting concept behind.
