I just want a longer trem bar. It does make a difference to me, aesthetically and functionally.
Is it so hard to just get one in the size you want? You can find an ad that has the dimensions, or just ask the seller.

Darren Riley has them. If I recall correctly though, Fender sells the arm but the plastic tip doesn't come with it and you can't seem to be able to buy the tip. This was for the AVRI Jazzmaster and AVRI Jaguar arms.

I do see that Darren Riley has Classic Player Jazzmaster arms that come with the tip. In the photos on his site, they are definitely longer than Strat arms but it's not clear if they are as long as the AVRI arms.

It's a Strat tip, just buy one of those in your chosen colour.

The part# is the same as the one I bought from a seller on Reverb. (On Darren Riley). Yes they use a strat tip.

Oh well. I’ll keep looking. Thanks!

Just to be clear, a Fender AVRi 62 Jazzmaster arm measures about 8 1/8 inches from the bend of the arm to the tip. The one you ordered on Reverb looks short in your picture but there is no scale of measurement for the picture.

If it is shorter than 8 inches, the seller may just have made a mistake.

Measured the bars. The longer one is approximately, 8.125 without the tip, and the shorter one is around 7.5 without tip. There is clearly a difference. This one I ordered was packaged on bag with fender tag and part number.

Could you have a Classic Player trem arm? It would make sense for the CP trem arms to be shorter since they moved the trem closer towards the bridge on those models. What is the part number for the one you got? AVRI trem arm is 0054473000 without knob, 0994933000 is the knob.

I understand. When I was just learning guitar I lost the trem arm on my Stratocaster, so I bought one from the local guitar store, but it was shorter than the original and almost impossible to use. So, for 15 years I didn't use it.

All of my guitars (with the longer 8+ inch trem arms) are 62 AVRIs. The new part number is for the newer AV models.

First I would try to see if someone here has an AV65 and can measure the arm for you. If that arm is also 8+ inches, maybe you just got a badly marked part.

That is the same part, new number. Forgot they changed that when the AV65s came out.

Vintage arms are definitely longer and I gotta say, I find them a lot more comfortable and pleasing to look at. Pictures of old jazzmasters always seemed like the arms were really long, just something pleasing for me to look at for some reason.

No idea why the new ones are so much shorter, but to be honest it might actually work better in terms of playing while constantly holding the bar. I tried putting the bar from my 66 Jag into the trem of my thin skin Jazzmaster and it won’t even go into the collet, which is a bummer because it seems like I could afford a semi-shorter arm on the jag instead of the JM.
