NGD 2016-7 Fender Mustang 90
Got this used Fender Mustang 90 today at my local GC. Plays and sounds great. I was hoping to get a Jaguar but I think this will do for a while.

That's sexy. Is that a sort of silver? I haven't seen this colour on them yet.

Yes it is silver. I thought it was a new model but the employee dated the SN to 2011.
My first guitar with P90s. They sound good but the hum is a bit much.

Looking into it I’m pretty sure the store clerk was wrong about the year. This seems to be one of the recent model Mustang 90s.
Edit: Internet search says made in 2016-7.

Nice. Good score either way. I've played a few of these and I was really impressed. P90s are indeed noisy, but they sound SO GOOD.

My discovery of P90s several years ago got me into playing guitar regularly again.

Congrats! That's a nice color. I'm so jealous of you guys because you can actually buy brand new stuff from the stores at a reasonable price.
Things are way overpriced here in Brazil, especially when it comes to Fender guitars

It's officially silver. However, Fender does an awful job at selling it. As I mentioned when I got mine, this is how it appears on their website and other official pictures from their marketing department:BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 11:31 amThat's sexy. Personally, I didn't like it. It looks dark, blueish... Until I saw one in a shop. In real life, it's much lighter, like an inca silver with more specks:
Depending on the angle and the light, it even has a slight champagne-like hue:

Yes they do sound good. My house is really bad for picking up hum. Maybe it won’t be as bad elsewhere.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 5:31 pmNice. Good score either way. I've played a few of these and I was really impressed. P90s are indeed noisy, but they sound SO GOOD.

Thanks! Actually I got this used. Cheap consumer goods are one of the benefits of the USA.Luiz Spindola wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 7:35 pmCongrats! That's a nice color. I'm so jealous of you guys because you can actually buy brand new stuff from the stores at a reasonable price.

I like the color. I’m not particularly picky when it comes to colors. As long as it isn’t neon green or some other super bizarre color I’m fine with it. Liked your build thread.Gordon wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 8:05 pmIt's officially silver. However, Fender does an awful job at selling it. Re: NGD 2016-7 Fender Mustang 90
Having recently got a Mustang 90, it seems like the hum is pretty awful on them, and it doesn't seem like they're RWRP. This isn't a huge deal because I can easily modify P90s to be RWRP, but it feels a little strange to have them like that. I do like the basic tone, though. If I were to keep these pickups, I would definitely do the RWRP mod where you change phase by reversing the wires at the coil and flipping the magnets. It's a 20 minute task that doesn't involve even having to remove the pick guard.
I'm going to install noiseless P90s, though. Whatever I lose in the single coil sparkle, I can easily gain back in versatility.

I was wondering why they didn’t hum cancel like my basses do. I’ll probably get new pickups at some point and just deal with it for a while.
I’m having a blast playing it I must say.

Re: NGD 2016-7 Fender Mustang 90
Yeah, the tone itself is good. It's just they bothered to shield the cavities so they do care to some extent, so why didn't they bother with RWRP on the Mustang 90? By the way, Gibson does this, too, sometimes. My Les Paul Tribute with P90s didn't have RWRP pickups. But at least they can say it's tradition because they're Gibson and whatever, but Mustangs have always had RWRP pickups. Not a hard fix, but it can be a little nerve wracking to modify pickups, so it just seems like it shouldn't have had to be fixed. The regular Offset Mustang does have RWRP.
I'm glad you're enjoying your guitar!! It's a wonderful neck they made on these things. Just the right amount of chunk and glossy without being gummy. I feel like I can play anything on this neck.
