It looks to be their take on one of Fenders more obscure designs, the Maverick. I’m hoping to get my hands on one.

Maybe I do too many word jumbles and anagrams, but I couldn't help but notice that that name is an anagram for "Jerusalem Dope."

I like the blunt upper horn. Kinda talman-esque?
Not a fan of the lower strap button, though. I guess you're supposed to hold these at about a 45 degree angle, but I tend to keep mine parallel to the floor and I can't see it ever not falling off.

Looks like a bootleg Bilt to me. Not that that’s a bad thing.
I’ll take a pink one with lipstick pickups.

John or Jane, they chose the gender-neutral J. Doe which is cool of them. It's not so much an "Everyman/woman" as it is the default name for unconscious, incapacitated, or deceased people who present without ID and need a name registered with the hospital/police/morgue.
I wasn't saying the anagram was intentional, but my weird brain just couldn't help but see "Jerusalem dope."
I totally dig the guitar, except the strap button should be on the other side of the heel.

I really really dig this. Been lusting after a maverick for a while. Looks like I'll to have to start saving my pennies again. I thought I'd finally gotten over my GAS with the thinskin purchase...sigh

Re: PURESALEM J.DOE
It's basically a knock-off of the Fender Maverick which itself was made up of leftover Fender XII parts. Presumably, the XII string craze had died a sudden death in the late sixties so they got the bandsaw out.

I prefer the 'swoosh' headstock design on the "John Doe" - I heard that Fender never patented the 'swoosh' headstock and that is why it is used by several builders today such as Bilt. Not sure if it's true though. I think the "swoosh" headstock is a great design - especially with the matching paint in the lower contour.

Good sign that I'm being more responsible, though. They are only making it, at this time, with two single coils ala jaguar. Already have a jaguar so will pass for the time being. If they add different pickup options, then I will be considering it

I don't suppose this is named after THE John Doe from the classic LA punk band, X, is it?

Because the strat pickup form factor definitely doesn't have the biggest variety of replacement options in the world. You definitely can't get P90s, side by side humbuckers, trisonics, lace sensors, stacked humbuckers, lipsticks, or Telecaster style replacements that drop right in
