Haven't listen to a lot of her music yet but I watch her interviews sometimes haha she's really cool!

And just because I have to ...
Love that story. So great that your daughter got to meet someone she admires and they were lovely to her.

It's probably a one-off red KC that Fender gave her. I vaguely remember another artist who received a blue KC Jaguar from Fender.

I'm going to have to give her music a second chance. Somebody sent me a couple of links once and the particular songs were sort of boring and did nothing for me at all, so I didn't bother listening in depth.
I'll get on it. She certainly has good taste in guitars though.

All I've heard is her version of Shivers just because it's the only version of Shivers on Spotify and it's alright I guess. Definitely my least favourite between this, Nick's, and Rowland's. It feels like she thinks she's too cool to sing the "spay-ayay-ayay-ayayayayayne" part.

Wow... For some reason I thought her music would be very mellow and soft but I'm listening to "Sometimes I sit and think" for the first time and there's some serious badass tunes in there. Great guitar tones as well

I saw her open for Blur and I've been a fan ever since. I love her lyrical style.

Live she goes even harder too. I remember being prepared for a sort of chill indie rock show and being blown away by how much more aggressive everything was. She totally brings it and it made me love the album even more.

I checked out a bunch more of her work. It's great. Once again, I learn not to judge on first impressions.
I like how she sings with her accent. Most of the Aussie stuff I listen to, you can't really tell at all.
So far I really dig the tracks Pedestrian at Best and Avant Gardener. She's got this line in Avant Gardener: "The paramedic thinks I'm clever because I play guitar. I think she's clever because she stops people from dying."

Golden.

I'm so glad you're giving her a second chance. Sometimes it takes me years, but I've been known to eat my words on several artists I previously wrote off for one stupid reason or another.

She really has a gift for making mundane, every day situations feel profound. "Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party" is one of my favorites. I don't think there's a lyric I relate to more in my adult life than "I want to go out but I want to stay home".

Also, to bring this back to guitars - it's so wild that she doesn't ever play with a pick. Her style is so easy and cool, and she gets some killer tones for just using her fingers.

She's like the female counterpart to Andy from ProGuitarShop.com.

I only use a pick for certain types of lead lines and solo'ing, or if I need to play rhythm with gypsy swing percussive elements.
Playing with your fingers is only really awkward starting out. Once you get completely used to it, playing with a pick is more difficult and actually feels like a handicap.
