This is the first time I've seen its model number, which is JM-165VR. Cool guitar with stock Seymour Duncan pickups.
Also the first time I notice it has 22 frets!

I wish they would use that pickguard on the Pro Jazzmaster. I don't have issues with removing the rhythm circuit but I don't like keeping all of the blank space and moving the pickup switch up there.

Sune, lead player for the Raveonettes plays one of these. Like his tone.

Is it just me or does the upper horn on these look different than usual? More blunt and less pointy.

I scored one of these a few weeks ago.
It's my first JM although I've wanted one since 1988 (damn you J Mascis!).
The pickups sound amazing and the lowered volume control prevents unscheduled adjustments.
The body on mine looks to be 3-piece ash and is light and resonant.
I have a great start but going from it to the JM is like going from an upright to a grand piano.
My Tele and Strat might have to start looking for new homes, this is THE Guitar for me.

Re: Nice pictures of the MIJ Ventures model Jazzmaster (1996)
I had one years ago.
I made copper shielding for it cause it hummed. The shielding took care of that.
After a year or so I traded it for a custom shop with 3-fat strat pickup purple sparkle telecaster, which I traded later for a deluxe strat , which I sold to buy another guitar.
Bottom line: I liked playing my AVRI Jazzmaster better. The quality wasn't bad, but not really different to me than a good MIJ/CIJ Jazzmaster with upgraded pickups.
edit: it actually was special, in a way, I remember it being light and it sounded right.
