Schecter Spitfire is Back

Post by iodine74 » Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:52 am

They used to have this name on a different guitar years back if I recall. J Robbins from Jawbox/Burning Airlines/Channels used to play one with that name, and lamented the name change.

Anyways. Not sure I like the upper pickguard, but i hadn't seen these before. They also have it in black.

This design is awful in so many ways at once that it is outstandingly desirable. I will be getting one.

Reminds me of the Ibanez Jet King

Well, at least Schecter put one of their nicer headstocks on this one. Always hit or miss with those guys.

I've owned Schecter's in the past and I wonder if this one is saddled with the normal problem, which is yucky pickups that are hard to replace. Happy to be corrected, but it looks like this has those weird mini-hums. I had a Hellcat VI and an Ultra III, and both got sold because the stock pickups sucked horribly and I could find no other way to replace them. And it was a shame, as both guitars were super well built and felt great to play.

Also, why did Schecter put such a horrid pickguard on the black Spitfire model? Yeesh.

They're Shechter's version of a Filtertron so I'd guess you could upgrade to something from the TV Jones lineup.

Really cool looking - the purple is cool. Terrible pickguard on the black. Seems like it would be obvious to have a metallic red/blue/orange/silver. I know it probably is not cost effective to do all of those but I find the two they chose are really odd choices. I do like the purple though.

Defo not into the top pickguard but weirdly i think it would be a great guitar if they lost the top guard and got the price in line with mim offsets
offset guitars resident bass player.
