2 more Texas Toast creations - sure to anger everyone!

Post by Sonichris » Sun Feb 18, 2018 2:36 pm

Here are a couple more guitars made by Texas Toast Guitars. We caught a fair amount of heat on OSG regarding our Super Casanova model, mostly because of the ad copy. These two may bring about as much divisiveness as the last one.

The Casanova Deluxe, and the Casanova LTD.

First up, the LTD. pretty much a straight up JM with a few tweaks. The Fender style headstock is not a standard option.

This one should really get your blood boiling. The Casanova Deluxe. a less expensive version of the Super Casanova.

Thanks for looking! Try to keep the hate comments to a minimum! ;)

I love these things. Did you guys cut the plate for the trem on the first one? I love when builders change it up with the trem design a little.

Yeah, nailed it. The last one was fine, but the ad copy was cringeworthy. These look even better, but you'll never please everyone with the specs.

I personally dislike offsets with no pickguard, but I'd play either of these because you kept it traditional (at least as far as mastery is traditional) with the bridge/trem. Nice work

Love everything about the first one, the second one isn’t my cup of tea, but I do like the headstock.

The only thing I’m angry about is that I couldn’t find anything to get angry about, and I want my money back.

Our machinist "Brain Surgery Kevin" made that one, along with the tremolo plate, and a bunch of other cool stuff. You should see the one that looks more like a gear shifter on a '63 Ford than a tremolo tip.
How do you get the name "Brain Surgery Kevin?" you might ask? By actually having brain surgery, then introducing yourself as " Hi, I'm Kevin, I've had brain surgery......"

Cringeworthy - I really like that! Maybe we should run a contest with a real prize for the best ad copy for that particular model? I think that's a great idea......

Good! I'm glad. Are you less moody and depressed now? :)

Are you thinking side jack? There's been talk of it. But, to put it where it doesn't get in the way while sitting on the couch (which I do 50% of the time) ((75% of the time)) it's a long long way. And, there is a lot of real estate that ends up with nothing on it. So, until I can figure that out, the top mount is the way to go.

We like the headstock on the second one as well. It's hard to come up with new headstock ideas. Most look like cut down versions of previous ones. This 3+3 is the first new original idea I've truly liked. We can thank Mrs. Texas Toast for that design. Just enough Gibson, just enough Gretsch, just enough Gumby.

Refund to come.
Thanks everyone!

Oops - meant to answer this one above too. Yes. It's a custom made plate. It fits the standard hole pattern of the Fender plate, but is slightly differently shaped. We made several. Super expensive, for not much gain. Chrome plating is expensive. This one has a trem lock with my initials on it. "CF" . Not sure why that happened. It also has a thicker "block" 1/4" instead of the standard 1/8". Can I hear a difference? mmmmmmm.........

These are amazing. I like both for different reasons. Does the top one have a roasted maple fingerboard? I must have missed the Super Casanova thread, but will try and find it. Nice work!

yes. Roasted flame maple. It's quite stunning. This one is raw, just oil. The back of the neck is satin.

here's the previous thread. You may change your mid after reading it. :derp:

The contours of the blue one are incredibly pleasing, the fit and finish and overall aesthetic are impressive. Good work, very well executed.
Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

I really like the blue one! Who would have thought. The original Super Casanova was a little too busy looking for my taste.

It's stunning, for sure. Thanks for the link, and it didn't change my mind. I don't get worked up about guitars that I find less appealing, as someone will find them cool. Anyway cool work!
