This is my AV65 with AVRI necked JM. Decided to upgrade the pickguard for one of the celluloid Fenderparts/portland music ones off ebay. I was slightly disappointed when I first opened the guard, it was used and the surface was pretty dull and I wasn't sure how it would look.
Did a bit of research and spent a couple of hours polishing it with toothpaste and just ended up with a slightly less dull guard and a stiff shoulder. The next day I bought some Brasso metal polish and it was awesome, really brought out the gloss, I think I could have got it almost back to new condition if my impatience and already stiff shoulder hadn't got the better of me.
Anyhow, it might not be be for everyone, but I really like that glossy look. Fit was perfect, all holes aligned etc, so I'm pretty happy with the results.
