New Refin Day - FenderJohnny Marr Jaguar
Here's my Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar refinished in Fiesta Red. My guitar tech did a great job but there was a miscommunication where he only applied the "Fender" logo instead of the "Fender Jaguar" logo. Long story short, I sent the neck to OSG member, joeybsyc, to re-refinish the headstock and apply the "Fender Jaguar" logo. Thanks again, Joe! I'm thinking about switching out the white tremolo tip with a black one.

Absolutely gorgeous. Personally I'd recommend keeping the trem tip white so it matches the pickup covers and doesn't introduce a new color into the palette, but your opinion is the only one that really counts.
I anticipate a thread full of drool emojis. Great work.

Thanks, all!
Here is my original thread on it with an overkill of photos - a previous or possibly the original owner had scratched in his name, initials, and social security number in different places on the guitar (see photos): viewtopic.php?f=41&t=105185.
Yeah, my thoughts on the black tip was to match the black knobs but I agree, amv - I'll leave the white tip to match the pickups.amv wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 10:16 amAbsolutely gorgeous. Thanks, mbene085 - I bought the blue sparkle refin'd '62 Fender Jaguar last year. The refin brought the price down a bit to enable me to pull the trigger on buying it. Wonderful sounding guitar. My only problem with it is I have big hands and the '62 neck is a bit slim for me. I've been on the hunt for my holy grail guitar, a '63 Fender Jazzmaster. I have been considering selling my '62 Jag to help fund that goal (or work out a trade + cash deal for a '63 JM. '63 is my birth year and the '63 necks on JMs are known to have chunkier necks. Besides, the Johnny Marr Jag is my go to Jag to play because its neck is super comfortable for me.

I bought mine off of Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071C ... UTF8&psc=1mizbiz wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 11:11 amI believe off of ebay... take a look here:

That's my Squier J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster that I had refin'd in Shell Pink. I swapped out the stock pickups for a set of Fender American Pure Vintage '65 Jazzmaster pickups, a mint pickguard, and a 9.50" radius Staytrem bridge. I played out quite a bit with it in my old surf/punk band. Very reliable and awesome guitar. I truly believe the Squier J Mascis JM is one of the great sleeper guitars put out by Fender/Squier. I've been finding myself tempted to pickup another one and leaving it all stock.

What a looker,
How did you do the refin>
Strip everything to the (pressumed) basswood, and then...?
I'll try to do this on mine, but i'm curious to do a full color rather than a stain for the first time

Re: New Refin Day - FenderJohnny Marr Jaguar
I also have a Fiesta Red Jag. Love it!
I wanted the arm tip black too. And bought one and tried it. I always thought Jags were weird with white covers and tip and black switches and knobs. But it works. When I had the black tip on the pickups stood out in a bad way. Then I wanted the pickup covers black too. ...and I just swapped the white tip back on and left well enough alone. I think I have a photoshop mockup somewhere.

Re: New Refin Day - FenderJohnny Marr Jaguar
This was another refin job by my guitar tech. I know some of my earlier refin projects (like the shell pink jm), he would strip everthing but some of my later projects he would simply put primer on top of the existing finish before putting on the new paint. Since he turned the fiesta red Jag back to me fairly quickly, I'm assuming this is what he did with that one.Witchburner wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:41 pmSnorre wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 1:28 pmThat's my Squier J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster that I had refin'd in Shell Pink. Yeah the more I think of it, I should just get an unfinished one piece body and paint it that way than try to turn my VM into something it isn't.Snorre wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 7:50 pm

Thanks for the words though man, really beautiful guitars you have!
