How is the Classic Jazzmaster (which at least claims to be US made) so cheap? 1200$ is just a tad over 1000€ and that's less than what a CP JM fetches new over here. I don't think I could refuse getting the blonde one if they made it over here with those same price tags. What a lovely looking guitar, and what a bargain!

Yes, they are mexican made. Only the 58 and the triple JM anniversary models are US made.

Huh. The MF website listed the US as the country of origin but then I guess that's either an error or in reference to something else.

All four colors show the same thing, I was expecting to see the string over at the bottom edge of the saddle but it's dead centre. The low E is centred also but this time the string sits in the fretboard correctly - something is off on those guitars.
That's because this is simple photoshop or equivalent. These are not different guitars. It is all the same guitar where the color changes, and the actual guitar picture is probably not even a photo of a real one.

I wondered that but it isn't so - look at the fretboards and the pickguards + all the bridges are intonated differently.

If you look at the pictures of the TVL, it also has the strings skewed similarly. Was there actually a problem with those?

I have heard of the TVLs having issues with the high e string being right on the edge of the board, but the one I'm renting (planning on buying with my tax return because I love it so much) doesnt have that issue at all. My Squier VM jaguar does however, seem to have the nut incorrectly cut, with the high e right on the edge.

Im kicking myself a little bit for jumping into the TVL a couple of weeks ago because now I seriously want that '58 reissue, and I'm locked into renting the TVL for 12 months. :'( I supppose this year's tax return could go on that instead 8)

Ouh a black Jazzmaster with matching headstock and B&B 9.5''neck is all I waiting for..totally GAS'ing :? . But I dont like light shaded fretboards on these..hopefully there are some diffrence in real or from diffrent woodplanks  .A friend has a black CP Jazzmaster with a pau ferro board and this has a nice darker appearance 8)

Anybody knows if these go darker overtime or with lemon oil?

Don't put much stock on anything in those photos as far as specs, build quality, etc. I did professional catalog photography for a number of years and there is a night and day difference between a production instrument and some pre-production mock-up made for an art & marketing department. Especially when you are dealing with a company the size of Fender.

And don't think for a second that just because you can't see obvious tell-tale signs of Photoshop that it's not used on a catalog shot of an instrument... If the instrument in the "photo" even existed to begin with.

Yes must be an error from MF. On the back of the headstock you can see the "made in Mexico".

maybe these guitars will start a new 5 string revolution in rock music where you just throw out the top string because its useless and just use the 5 bottom strings.
