I genuinely love the sonic grey and mystic seafoam in particular that Fender’s used on the Pro line.
I'd love either one of those in nitro with matching headstock. :w00t:

I am no fan of vintage spec fretboard radii.

For the record.

Some new, or at least different color options would be cool. But I am by no means offended by these. Price is goingyo be a problem for a lot of people but it comes as no surprise.
Not shaping up to be a popular opinion, but I'm more-or-less on board with this.

For about a year I've been in the grip of a full-blown consumer swivet trying to decide which model of Jazzmaster to get. The AO60s configuration ticks a lot of boxes for me.

I know the AV '65 gets a lot of love, but I'm pretty used to the feel of a more contemporary fingerboard radius and fret profile. To wade into the shallower end of my instrument-buying priorities, while I'm mostly invested in how a guitar sounds (as opposed to aesthetics), I gotta say the opaque yellow on the AVs was a little clown burst-y to my eyes, and I was always mildly put off by that over-the-finsish decal. I know it's period correct, but in my book those things look like they've been adhered with a quick lick and cursory thumb buffing.

Anyway, the combo of modern radius neck, traditional switching circuitry, Pure Vintage '65 pickups, and nitro finish may just win me over.

Man, the opaque yellow in the burst, and the decal were a couple of the things I adored about the '65s. And I know the dealers were probably constantly taking hits cos of the fragility of the flashcoat finishes, but in person the flashcoats looked stunning :? & I can live quite happily with the dings.

I love that they offer it in OT.

Ha, yeah. Honestly I'm a little embarrassed to fess up to even noticing something like the out-and-about decal. But there you have it. Probably my zeal for swirly and evident wood grain boarders on the. . . unwholesome. :fp:

So is the nitro over the decal on the AO? Sealing it in? I honestly am digging this early 60’s 3TS where you can see more wood grain and it’s not as much of a target burst. Even though it’s not period correct to 65/66 it looks good to me. Still curious how the nitro is on these. Probably not as thin as the AV65 realistically but hopefully not as thick as the AVRI which I’ve heard don’t really ever wear down much.

Andertons video showing both the Jag and the JM:

Starts at the 31:50 mark. You have to put up with their usual spiel about how these guitars are too complicated and weird and unsuccessful, but whatever. :fp:

Yeah, I think it's sealed in from the pics I've seen. Wildwood have said the finish is a poly undercoat and nitro topcoat.

Curiously, have a look at modern vehicles. Black. Silver. White. Metallic red. 95% of all cars... the other 5%... I think Fender is winning that competition, but by how much...
Now I'm laughing out loud at the visual of 3TS cars driving around (with tort bumpers, presumably).

At least he pronounces it "Jag-U-ar" instead of "Jag-wire" like a dumbfuck.

I don't want to be a pedant, but I'm going to do it anyway.
Jag-u-ar is just as wrong as jag-wire. Possibly more wrong.
It should be jag-warr (rhymes with marr - as in johnny).

Haha, that is pretty much the only thing(s) Fender hasn't nicked from the automotive industry

My 2 cents: Gotta say I don't think this was a terrible move by Fender. It's sad to see the AV line go but I'm fairly sure it will come back in a few years under a new name or there will be special runs here (the elusive 66 B&B offsets maybe?) and there that will cover that niche somewhat. In the meantime, there are plenty of used AVRI and AV65 for those who are strictly into vintage specs.

The difference between 7.25 and 9.5 radius is in my opinion close to negligible. And even if most of the time I play 7.25, I gotta say I really like the 9.25 in the guitars that I have with it.

I agree the palette of the AO is narrow. Hopefully in subsequent years they will expand it. I'm sorry to hear these have a poly undercoat, but it's understandable they want to have a more durable finish. As long as it looks good, I guess it's alright (I always hated the look and feel of my 2000 AVRI JM sunburst).

It just takes a bit of perspective to see how far the Jag and Jazzmaster have come. Not that long ago the only option we had it was a reissue. Now Jags and JMs are firmly entrenched as a part of the regular Fender line (That being good or bad is subjective). Even if the guitar industry/market is as unforgiving and traditional as they say, it seems to be that Fender was able to bank quite a nice coin on the offset guitar fever in the last years.

Perhaps, but Captain Lee is an Englishman, and in dear old Blighty they pronounce the name of the car and cat as "Jag-U-war." You can argue whether this is actually correct or not, but the good Captain has generations of cultural history on his side. Also, there is actually a "u" in "Jaguar," while there is absolutely no way to get "wire" out of those letters.

In this article I did learn there is a sportsball team in Florida called the Jaguars, which the local populace pronounces "Jag-wires":

https://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/ ... g-yoo-are/

The stupidity of the people of Florida in their inability to pronounce a common, simple, two-syllable word is no reason to mispronounce the name of a guitar (or a car or cat, for that matter) which has been in existence long before the sportsball team. Anyone who says "Jagwire" in my presence risks swift rebuke and ridicule.
