Jaguar volume potentiometer question

Post by Redrevelo » Mon Dec 11, 2017 10:51 pm

Hey everyone,
Hoping someone here can help. I recently got a Fender Classic 60s Lacquer Jag in Fiesta Red. The volume pot on the lead circuit has quite a dramatic volume drop within the first quarter turn, and then basically does nothing after that. I checked inside, and it is a 1Meg CTS potentiometer, the same as the tone pot. Is that normal for this type of pot, or should I replace it?
Also, what would be your pickguard of choice on Fiesta Red? :)
Cheers.

I have the body of the same guitar. Mint green is by far my favorite on Fiesta Red. And I’m sure you’ll get a ton of people saying TORT!
The pot, 1M is normal. Can you tell by the markings of the pot is log or audio?

Mint is the correct answer.

Agreed that 1meg is normal. Which isn't to say that it can't be defective and/or the wrong taper.

It's normal for a stock Jag. Other than the JM, it is not wired as a variable resistor (2-point), but as a voltage divider (3-point), which bleeds signal to ground really quickly...

Ok, thanks for the replies, I think i'll leave the current one in there, for a while and see how it goes over time.
