God, I'm such a pussy. I don't deserve a guitar like this.

There is so much non-JM stuff here. It's even worse than what Fender has done to them. And then to insult people that like it with the copy just seems dumb. I actually have liked videos they have done but this guitar turns me off of the company. And that finish is awful...nothing rock and roll about that finish. Les Paul with a JM shape is very accurate.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

:wtf: :wtf:

The builder is a member here, no?!

Copy seems like fightin' words to me---for the honor of both Slowdive and Sonic Youth. Playful fightin', but I'll fight 'em. Kind of confused because a psychedelic bookstore basement seems perfectly consonant with shoegazers and art rock wusses, like me (although, don't we all have varied tastes?).
HEH! HEH!

I started looking for where this person lives in Texas so I could go fight 'em.

The finish on that and the Prisma are good.

At least they are not calling it a jazzmaster.

( sez the bloke who occasionally has GAS for a Jim Root jazzmaster )

Humbuckers and paisley not my thing, but I get wanting the shape and the bridge/trem. The lack of pickguard totally irks me and is by far the most offensive part to me. I'd rather they screwed up by going the opposite way and put a divided 4-part pickguard or something like that William Corgan one. Or you could just do something interesting like sparkley faux gator leather. How is the scrappy balls-to-the-wall rocker stuck playing shows in a bookstore basement?

Nothing says Rock n' Roll more than being insecure about your masculinity.

You win, that blurb was truly a window into the time when dinosaurs ruled the earth and one for the rock testosterone thread there was a while back.

Didn't care too much about the blurb. I like being a wuss. I just happen to mostly play in hardcore bands, but the inner wuss is strong.

Someone commented that the builder is a member. Yes, Matt is, and so is his assistant. I do most of the paint, and I did all the assembly on this particular guitar.

To those of you who liked it, thanks! We know not everyone likes the paisley fabric tops, but they are very very popular with customers. This particular guitar looks even better than it does in photos. It's got gold thread throughout the pattern that really pops. The back was done in bright orange, with a tinted natural maple neck.

This guitar was featured in 5280 magazine's gift guide. It's a high profile magazine. They selected it unsolicited from anyone at Texas Toast, and in fact, was the only one they wanted despite our efforts to provide a different guitar. The guitars owner was cool enough to let us borrow it back for the photo shoot.

For those who don't think it's "Jazzmastery" enough, well, yeah. That's kind of the point. Not everyone wants a Jazzmaster. In fact, most don't. We all love them here, myself included. But, all my hard rocking friends think they are kind of sucky. We made 3 straight up JM's last year, and let our people play them, and a lot of them said they were cool, but not something they would play. They loved the comfy body, and they thought the trem was kind of fun. But they didn't like the huge pickguard, or the weird controls, or the pickups.

So the "Super Casanova" was born. It's not for everyone. no guitar is.

I personally think the paisley finish screams 70's glam rock. Totally over the top, you love it or you hate it. But everyone that sees them in person loves them. It's a very popular finish for us.

As for the ad copy on the website. If you have watched any of Matt's youtube videos, you know the ad copy is 100% Matt. He's big and bold. It's tongue planted firmly in cheek. It was written to get a response. Testosterone fueled? Absolutely. That's what rock is. The guitar is called the "Super Casanova", for pete's sake.

And, for those who do like the OP guitar, here's a few more paisleys. These 3 basses are all customers who let us use them for Texas Toast Day in August.

We have a bunch more paisley and fabric tops in the works.

I think the guitar looks sick in the magazine shoot. Better than I thought initially.

Yeah, not a classic jazzmaster, but we have tons of that everywhere if anybody wants it. I'm all for doing new stuff like this, keep up the good work!

Here's to hoping our comments about liking our wussy offsets our way, end up helping you with this market! :D

:-*

Actually this is also interesting because I had this feeling anyway (and it's cool to hear you corroborate it) that you guys still love offsets the way they are but made some intentional design decisions for, like, reasons. What's interesting is that I've never considered that kind of empathy for any other builder. I'm still a little hesitant to do that for other builders, tbh! But it's an easy pov to forget about---for me anyway.

Aside from the paisley finish, pickups, lack of pickguard, scale and the head stock it’s a nice guitar.

I like like some of the feature of that guitar but on other guitars not a giant offset body it just looks wrong.
