NJD: FSR Jaguar Thinline :D
I've been after this particular guitar for a few years, requesting (hopefully not too annoyingly) one of the regulars at the shop hit me up if/when he ever wants to part ways w/ it. He'd pinged me a couple of times previously only to back out, but this time he was ready to do the deal. Of course this came a few hours after finishing the drainage of the gear fund w/ the last acquisition of the great bass rig refresh of 2017
Nothing ventured nothing gained, I went ahead and tapped the savings and grabbed it anyway. Here it is:
It's got a Staytrem bridge, a set of SD vintage pickups, and was rewired omitting the rhythm circuit w/ a 3 way toggle and strangle and came to me w/ the original plates and electronics in a G&G offset case. Seems to be in pretty darn great shape all in all and plays beautifully. It has a pretty nice acoustic sound, amplified it seem like it's quite possibly one of the brightest, twangiest, and (unfortunately) thinnest sounding guitars I've ever owned. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great as is, but seems like it is a really niche sound for me. I can't help wondering what the Bareknuckles from my Johnny Marr would sound like in there...
Anywho, figured I share the latest offset acquisition. Thanks for looking!

These look so nice. I don't think the Marr pups are what you're after though. My marrguarr is a wonderful guitar, but it can get spikey.

Thanks guys! Looks and playing feel were definitely the big draws on this one for me.
I've really liked the SD Antiquity II Jag pup in the neck position of the Noisy Cricket (my 25.5" scale Franken-stratelejagstang build) but never tried the bridge (or either in a semi hollow/thinline).
Yeah, dunno what I would expect w/ the BKPs in this guitar. There's certainly plenty of attack available on the Johnny Marr, but it's backed up by a fat body particularly on the both or neck positions. In my head it's the best sounding standard/single coil Jag I've played.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 11:08 amI don't think the Marr pups are what you're after though. Great guitar! I love this model!
Here is mine (w/ AV 65 pickups). Doesn't sound thin at all!

That's beautiful man! I really like the mocha/walnut color. Is that a refin? I'd only seen the 3 color burst and black ones previously.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 12:07 pmGreat guitar! I love this model!

I may try beefing things up on mine w/ some stupid wiring tricks and the current pups before I go swapping them out. I haven't opened it up to see what exactly the previous owner has going on in there.

Thank you! I owned a Marr Jag, a Thinline, and an AV65. I distilled everything I like about them into this one Jag.Sid Nitzerglobin wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 12:55 pm

The Thinline was black. I sold the body to someone on OSG and had Marc Rutters build me a body out of Walnut instead.
With the AV65 pickups and series wiring in one of the positions the guitar is pretty beefy. It now has mastery hardware which further improved the whole playability and aural experiences. I sold all my other guitars -- this is the only guitar I own now.

wow medoicreplayer that jag is so far from mediocre haha , seriously very sick.
OP ditch the stock pickups! I like the av65 pickups, rich if you play lightly but very aggressive when you strum hard.

These guitars are so sick, I only wish I'd have gotten into guitar long ago enough to have gotten one when every place blew them out, in the long long ago, before they started to cost way more than I could afford.
Speaking of, I've heard varying accounts of how low that blowout price was - $600, $500? Anyone got an accurate figure on that? I'm a masochist, obviously.
OP that thing is beautiful. The burst is <3

Mine was $899 from Musiciansfriend and I believe it was the last one in their stock (or close to it). The price may have been lower at one point but I felt like 900 was an absolute steal. I’ve spent about $300 on upgrades and it plays and sounds better than any $1200 jaguar out there.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2017 3:40 amThese guitars are so sick, I only wish I'd have gotten into guitar long ago enough to have gotten one when every place blew them out, in the long long ago, before they started to cost way more than I could afford.
