I like my Jag though my '59 Bassman. As someone else said, it thickens it up nicely. I like my JM through a vintage AC-30. I've never tried it into any of the non-UK Vox amps, but from what I've read about the various CC-what nots, I'll stick to JMI or Korg UK amps. No master volume, bright caps or reverb to muck things up.

the 00's are alive and well. the weird thing is i remember having good memories of the peavey bandit while at the same time thinking it sounded like trash.

Peavey Bandit: if it was good enough for Lou Reed, Robert Quine, and Andy Gill, it's good enough for anyone.

I usually play both through an older Roland JC-120. Gives the Jaguar a certain sparkle and my main Jazzmaster with P90s can seemingly do anything through it.
That said, I recently acquired one of those old Randall Commander Bass amps, and have been running both through that a bit. The thickness definitely helps the Jaguar, would probably be cool to record with actually.

I am living the cliché playing my JMJM and hacked VM Jaguar through a Vox AC30C2.
I almost never get the volume over 9:00 and the master over 12:00, so I have been considering switching to a Vox AC15 of some description to save my poor back :/

I mostly use a 90s Peavey Classic 50-410 for everything. It sounds pretty good, even with the stock speakers in it still.
I take my Rivera era Deluxe Reverb II in sometimes for a treat. It has a Cannabis Rex which really made the headroom usable. It’s a delight to use when the temperature and humidity and whatever else makes these things behave the way they do is just right. I find the Peavey doesn’t sparkle as much as the DRII when it’s dialed in, but like a good workhorse amp it is easy to find a decent sound. Good with pedals, musical feedback, has wheels..

I've gone thru the downsizing Amp thing too. First I played my AV65 Jag & AV65 JM through my Fender Twin. Big, heavy & loud so I got a 65 DRRI. Still pretty loud. So I got a RI 65 Princeton Reverb which I use most of the time.tommycarlos wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2017 5:31 pmI am living the cliché playing my JMJM and hacked VM Jaguar through a Vox AC30C2.

I got a Vox AC15CC1X which sounds great but is sorta heavy & still loud. But, I love that Amp! Heard about a Special run of Vox AC10C1's with Celestion Greenback & thought I'd give it a try. Sounds great & still plenty loud. I upgraded the Tubes & I really this Amp too. Especially the 26 lbs. & smaller footprint.
As I mentioned previous I also like to run the Vox & Fender stereo through a Keeley 30MS Double Tracker Pedal has some xlnt Settings. I particularly like the Abbey Mode Settings...

Re: What is your favorite Amp for your Jags & JM's?
Ever since my wife bought a Red Knob Twin, I like that amp the most. The 25W switch makes it usable at lower volumes, which is very welcome. I know that these amps are not amongst people's favourites but to me, it sounds like a Twin should sound.
At home, I play via my Laney Cub 12 which I think is the perfect bedroom amp - and has a nice "British" note to it which I also like a lot, especially for a clean sound that is "on the edge" and then adding pedals (Reuss RSH-02, Distortion+) for more drive when playing leads.

Re: What is your favorite Amp for your Jags & JM's?
I've gone through so many different amp variations - I need an amp to work with all the guitars, not just with offsets, so some that sounded fantastic with a Jaguar or Jazzmaster (but not with an ES335 or Gretsch) bit the dust. It took a few years but I found my two 'types'.
I use a Swart AST Master combo (which can do loud or apartment volumes thanks to a really decent master circuit that doesn't seem to suck the life out of the sound when engaged) and two Princetons (a '71 Princeton Reverb and a '73 Non-Reverb). The Swart is a darker amp than the Princetons - not muddy, but I guess more like a Tweed or Bassman than a blackface/SF Fender. Nothing sounds bad through it - but it'll tame the bite or cut of a Jaguar without losing the definition or shine, and accentuate the Jazzmaster in ways that remind me of the Bassman reissue I had years ago (that I loved but which was far too loud).
The Princetons of course do what Princetons do - and Jag/JMs sound great through them, but have a different character. I also love what the Princeton does with old humbuckers and P90s.
Those two different amp types cover all bases for me - I can pretty much get any sound that I want somewhere between those two.
