NGD: Bilt S.S. Zaftig

Post by Maggieo » Fri Nov 03, 2017 2:59 pm

I got a new guitar today, but haven't had time to take any photos of it. So, let's play:

GUESS WHAT GUITAR MAGGIE JUST GOT!

First hint is what forum it's posted in.

Second hint is that I traded my Swart Atomic Space Tone amp for it.

Marrguar?
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

There's a Zaftig I was watching which appears to be gone.

That is not entirely out of the realm of possibilities!

:D The one I was thinking of was Ice Green Metallic, but I'm pretty certain there was also a walnut one up recently that would match up all nice with that Costello of yours. If so, congrats. Zaftigs are super fun, and they're from Des Moines, which is basically saying the same thing.

Nope! Not that one! (Though I would have loved it.)

My local music store had this one hanging on the wall for the last month as a consignment:

Bilt SS Zaftig 2016 Sonic Blue - Full Nitrocellulose

My friend Pat texted me about it when I was in Canada, so even though he added "NELS!!!!!" to the pic, I pretty much forgot about it until I stopped by the store to give him back the hat he'd left in my car.

Played it. Wanted it. Made a deal. It worked out!

I had no idea the guy was from Laramie. I just knew that he'd trade for my AST and some WAM. Here's his pix:

That one! That one is really, really nice. If I remember right, he had a guard cut for P90s too if you want to try out other pickups (Firebirds!), but Regals sound great in a Zaftig. Congrats!

Thanks!

I'm going to live with the Regals for a while. The guitar originally had Lollar Goldfoils in it, which are a pickup I really like.

Oh, and the neck is really, really great.
