No mention of these being nitro in that description, so I'm guessing they are poly like the TVL JM? It will be interesting to hear the pickups. Hopefully they are decent enough.Igorilla wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 6:12 am
The back of the neck and the headstock is not orangey like on classic 60s JMs:

I am curious about the PUs. I cannot understand why they don't use AV 65s. This is almost the deal breaker for me.

Interesting! I checked Andertons and they did not say it is nitro either (but they did state the American 60th JMs are nitro).Igorilla wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 1:34 pm

I'm not sure how to feel about these, they look great even though they are not vintage correct, and they will wear cool because of the nitro. I would've been happier with and avri 66 reissue but that Blonde one with a black pickguard would look pretty damn fine.

I really like the look of the one with the three filter-trons. If only it had a matching headstock too.

I'm digging these. personally I wish they had vintage neck/fret specs, but it's all good. The blonde is calling to me...

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Personally I think this is the closest to original spec.
https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric- ... 13757.html
It only comes in surf green, but that's what I was lusting after anyways. Only thing missing is the trem-lock.
No, I don't care that it's MIM. At $1000 (US) with a hardshell case and '65 picups, 7.25 radius, lacquer finish, I'm all over it if I can get the cash.
No block inlay, no binding, no matching headstock.

Why'd you have to go and say that? I've been wanting a RWJM since I got my RW Jag back in 2014. Now, I have serious GAS after reading about the discounts. Must resist....gurn wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:45 amYou might call Mississippi Music. It's a local store. It may fall for Classic Players as well.
I have seen 3 vendors deeply discount the road-worn Jazzmaster. In fact, Sweetwater discounted mine
from $1024 to $799. I have seen the road-worns as low as $699.
on the wall two months ago for $699. I almost bought it. But I held off. He wouldn't do Christmas layaway. It might
still be there. http://mississippimusic.net/ Call the Biloxi store.
Sweetwater offered me a huge discount -- from $1024 tot $799. It was the last one they had in stock. I think they knew
the 4 MiM 60th anniversary models were in the pipeline. That price was not advertised.
Here's one for $899. I've seen them cheaper. Fender has 5 or 6 Mexican Jazzmasters competing with each other now.
I'm no expert. But I think the prices on the CP & Road-worn will be coming down.

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
The only thing strange to me about it is the decal - black JM's with matching headstocks in the 60's had a simplified decal, like this: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/34/d7/73 ... b7af96.jpg
I understand that they wanted to just use the same decal on all of these, though. (Well, except for color.)
I also always just think tort looks weird on black. It should be mint. But I know the AVRI's had tort too (I have one!).

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Technically it should be Parchment. anything with blocks and Binding would have had parchment. mint was pre CBS. but then again , these are vintage spec so...spacecadet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 3:15 pmThe only thing strange to me about it is the decal - black JM's with matching headstocks in the 60's had a simplified decal, like this: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/34/d7/73 ... b7af96.jpg

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Fender has 6 different MiM Jazzmasters on the market now. Is the market for JM's really that large? Why'd you have to go and say that? I've been wanting a RWJM since I got my RW Jag back in 2014. Now, I have serious GAS after reading about the discounts. Must resist....
I'm thinking we'll be seeing a model or two dropped from the line or discounted this year.
My two candidates are the Road Worn & the Classic Player.
I could be wrong.

Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
Is there reason to think we won't see these new models disappear after this year? Maybe we see the Roadworn be discontinued for a year, then come back. But the Classic Player is enough of it's own thing that I don't think it is going to be discontinued.gurn wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2018 12:15 pmFender has 6 different MiM Jazzmasters on the market now. Re: 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster?
My road-worn is a good guitar except for that bridge. I'll be replacing it. But the RWJM definitely sounds like a Jazzmaster should.
I'm a little confused about how I'll tell the difference between scratches I've put on it and scratches the line workers put on it. I'm not into relics. I bought the RWJM because I got it for a good price.
Keep your eye out. You may see discounts.
