Very intrigued by the "original Jazzmaster" specs (the blue one) and wondering if it will replace the AV series?
The plan seems to be that these new American Originals will replace the AV series. I think the idea is that they'll mix and match vintage features without feeling the need to be bound to one particular year, adding in a couple concessions to "modern playability" (meaning 9.5" radius, 6105 frets).
I'm thinking of this as "Thin Skins for everybody." Most of the "vintage" guitars ordered from the Custom Shop have 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, so I guess Fender figures that's what people want. I think it's a great idea, though I'm sure some folks will hate it.

I highly doubt they discontinue the American Vintage series. I could be wrong I just think that these are gonna be a new line.
That LPB Jazzmaster is seriously a matching headstock away from being my dream guitar. Seriously, seriously sucks to see them release something SO CLOSE to exactly what I want while still being not exactly it.

American Original is exciting, I wonder what the price range will be. That neck looks sweet, possibly ebony fretboard?

It would be great if the "American Original" series was to exist as a parallel to the "American Vintage" series- for people who want a more Jazzmastery Jazzmaster than those awful "Professional Series" abortions (which should be immediately discontinued and all remaining examples scrapped for parts), but are afraid of a 7.5" radius neck and want more interesting color choices. For the love of god though, keep those horrific "V Mod" pickups out of them and measure the damn string spacing before you build the bridge.
Of course, Fender being fender, I can see these replacing the AV line as the "traditional" Jazzmaster while the Professionals are the "modern" ones. In the words of Asia though, Only Time Will Tell.

The American Original seems more like the Fender version of the Vintage Modified, to me. So, I agree. It would also make sense to keep a range of actual vintage spec guitars.

On the downside:
What looks like a '66 reissue with spaghetti logo, strat knobs, gingerbread pau ferro fretboard, ugly tort. And is that the crummy MIM trem without a lock button? Why not at least the right decal, the right knobs and a mint guard (I understand the Pau Ferro is harder to change these days)?
Come on Fender. You can do better than this.

"Classic Series 60's Pickups". Wonder how they differ from the well received 65 reissues.
9.5 radius, was considering an American original for this reason, will go for one of these instead I think and save a few quid. Not bothered about nitro finish (presumably a lack of with this line).

Well. Well. Well.
The tort is ugly. I've got a mint guard waiting to replace it. Who knows what the pickups are, maybe revived and renamed AVRI's? I always change them out for something else anyways. The boards seem really light in that photo. Hoping that's not the case in person. 9.5 radius AND nitro. Already looking for someone in States to preorder me fiesta red.

They look really good. But why messes Fender up all the time... Is it so hard to put a period correct decal on them.

Those Classics have nitro finishes, according to the specs on this UK site:
https://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/fender-li ... aphne-blue
MIM, obviously, and I assume that nitro is the same as on the regular lacquer-finished Classics. US MAP is probably $1,024 like the regular nitro-finished Classic Series Jazzmasters.
I don't get why they don't have the AV65 pickups like the regular lacquer-finished Classics. It's possible that these pickups have the same specs but are wound in Ensenada. If so, they'll do.
I agree that the decal should match the blocks and binding. That's not cool. The rest is fixable and not surprising.

Pau Ferro is usually that light, isn't it?
