I really don't like everything they do or did, I love only 3 of their albums: that microtonal banana, papier maché and the one with "The River" song...I'm not an absolute fanboy, really this is not my favorite band but
You guys are kind of harsh...

So, I take it that no one knows about the maths for the placement of the frets then ?

Not sure if this is the same thing or a similar thing, but Horse Lords have something like this with their guitar/bass (and for what little I've heard of KG&LW are way more interesting/hypnotic)

I briefly chatted to their guitarist, it's something to do with just intonation and various ratios, he lost me very quickly tbh
