Anybody get in on the Eastwood remake of the Teisco TB-64?

Post by WillPhistre » Tue Sep 19, 2017 8:42 am

If you're like me and into weird offset Bass VI goodness, you might have noticed that Eastwood put up plans to build a "custom shop" TB-64 earlier this year. It was funded pretty quickly and the site itself says that it ships in August 2017, which of course has now come and gone. Just wondering if anyone here has heard anything!

I didn't get in on the pre-order, but I intend on picking this up, reviews pending.

That's what I'm waiting on. They haven't even shown a picture of the finished product yet

I saw this. The new pictures were available literally MINUTES after I made this post. So weird.

I like the green. I heard they were going to do a fiesta-ish red as well, but it looks like that one didn't make it.

Now to get my hands on one. I don't trust Eastwood's QC one bit, so I hope one of these ends up in a B&M near me someday so I can check it out first.

I want one of these to play old Blonde Redhead songs from La Mia Vita Violenta. Then I'll get bummed about how their new music is so uninspiring and boring...

Blonde Redhead has certainly gone a completely different direction on the last few records, but the last word I'd use to describe them is 'boring' or 'shite'. I find their newer music quite beautiful.

Astro Boy off their first album is still their best song though.

I guess I need to listen to it with fresh ears and no expectations. I'm the kind of person that gets really excited and inspired by creative guitar playing and song structures. Their last 3 (?) albums have very little if any of that crazy unique guitar playing that blew me away like on their first 4 albums. Also the drum beats. Man can that guy grind out a unique beat when he wants to.

Yeah, just think of them as a completely different band and they're quite good. I get bored of guitars easily, and already went through the process of accepting that one of my favourite bands chucked guitars out in the trash (Radiohead) so I might have a different perspective though.
