I mean, it's G&L, it's going to be an incredibly well put together guitar.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

These look like amazing guitars, I'd love to try one some day. Just wish I could get over my fear of jm/jags with different trems..

Re: G&L Doheny
They are very well built!
I have tried one out a few times, but have not been able to compare it to an ASAT with Jumbo MFD pickups. I am curious how much the tone overlaps. I do love my ASAT, but if the tones overlap, that could mostly pay for a Doheny.

That empress wood is something else, crazy light like balsa or a foam core door. It's awesome that they can take off a pound and a half of weight, and it sounds practically the same, but it still gives me mixed feelings. I imagine most traditionalist would find it rather off-putting. If you just knock on it, it sounds kind of dull and spongy.
As much fun as these are, I wouldn't give up a good Jazzmaster for one. It wouldn't be surprising if the pickups and electronics get swapped out of at least one of these by the end of the year, at least to try something different.

The SC2 reissue I heard wasn't popular enough and they're evaluating if there's a market for a more vintage correct style SC2 with the plate and mustang slab body. I'm already planning to order an L2000 with the control plate so hopefully that helps push them to do the SC2 in some way

Re: G&L Doheny
I like that they refer to it as a "JM humbucker" on the guitar.
Also, back to the standard G&L neck heel, here.

Re: G&L Doheny
oh boy!! those humbuckers could be promising. my Doheny has such crisp clarity in single coil form that it's easy to imagine even a throbby old school 'bucker still cutting through clearly on that platform. especially as mine has the maple board. i've been on a great honeymoon with the Doheny for a couple months now, and it's been the #1 guitar in my studio lately. the idea of a HB MFD is pretty exciting. i've used the Z-coil MFD's on one of my top guitars for ambient and textural work for decades now. it would be fantastic to bring the noise floor down even more. not to mention the potential for a fatter overdrive.
i love how the guys at G&L seem so invigorated lately! it's been an exciting time for me.

Paulownia? Could be, I don't I've ever played a paulownia guitar before, either.
Maybe I should have waited until they release those humbuckers, I wonder if they'll sell them to me aftermarket since I already have the guitars. Even if it already blew my budget for the year, I don't regret my purchases.
