^^^Amen to that, Andy is anything but lazy and unprofessional. The only problem is that he can make just about anything sound good.

His one fault is that his technique/touch yields incredible tones, but because he doesn't play with a pick, it's not 100% representative of how most people could expect it to sound. I will forgive him for this, because the riffs he picks and the settings he dials in, along with his general demeanor, make his reviews just about the most useful and enjoyable out there.

Reminds me of the "bread board" prototype of the instrument. All of Leo Fender's prototypes are finished (or rather unfinished) this way...

Hey dudes. Longtime Jazzmaster player (main guitar since mid '90s is a JM) here to chime in on the Doheny.
I recently picked up a Doheny through my local G&L dealer, and I must say, it is a wonderful instrument in every way. It has the most comfortable neck + some of the best sounding pickups I've heard in any guitar. You can get beautiful clean JM like tones out of it, but it handles pedals and loud stuff really well, too. My playing style is aggressive and I ride the bar constantly, and the DF vibrato will not go out of tune.
If you're lucky enough to be able to try one in person, do it! Don't expect it to be a JM clone. It is its own thing. Just an all around fun and inspiring guitar to play.
Here's a pic.

Thanks! Yeah, if I custom ordered one, black burst would be on my short list. I think it looks great with tort guard, white pickups and knobs.

That is a gorgeous example, SciFlyer! Tell us, how does the bound neck feel? The non-bound neck has a nice edge roll to it. Just want to know if you are trading comfort for style...
