At first I thought it sounded too harsh, but it's growing on me. With the tones down around 6-7 it smoothens out.

Maybe the blue on blue wasn't the best choice, does it have enough contrast? :jacked:

^ You'll have to switch characters. I'd go with Twilight Sparkle or Pinkie Pie.

No, that works. Makes it look as though Rainbow Dash was a factory option...

^^ :-* It is, and it's what steered them away from using the offset trem. :)

yes, antisymmetric, well played!! finally, we can see the realization of Leo's vision.

but seriously, tammyw - that looks fantastic.
i usually think of G&L as a "serious" guitar... this is taking my mind in a whole other direction - cheers!

From my experience, and everything I have read about G&L, is the company has a philosophy that the default volume knob setting is around 5 or 6, giving you range in both directions. Whereas Fenders are typically meant to be played in the 9 to 10 range.

It's hard to get used to, especially if you have your amp/rig set up for Fender guitars, most of which function within the same basic sonic range.

I'm sorry but that Guitar does absolutely nothing for me..

This G&L thread just reminded me, I bought a USA Music Man Sterling Bass 15 years ago... I have a USA Fender P Bass & a Hofner Bass.. The PBass gets played 95% of the time, the Hofner theo other 5% of the time. It's been in the Case in a Closet for years. The Music Man never did anything for me.. it's like brand new. It just doesn't have the Soul that the Fender has... Sorry!!! I should probably sell it..

I'd consider the sunburst with the blocks and a trem. That'd be a pretty good G&L.

The more I see this black blocks and bindings, on the maple neck, the more I like it. The Jazzmaster offered this option in '68 and '69 but I've never seen one. :? :? :?
that's exactly where i'm going... it's in the works!

25 years ago, i got this '74 Jazz Bass with BB&B on maple, my first gigging instrument. looking at that neck while playing is a real joy. (and easy to do in low light!) always wanted to have that experience on a Leo guitar. STOKED!

thanks! believe it or not, i've been mostly a rosewood guy... but i was reorganizing my studio and realized i do have a maple fetish after gathering these up. the BB&B Bass was my first - and i didn't even know how rare that combo was on a Fender.

in my case i don't run G&L volume knobs that low, but often do keep the treble and bass knobs around 5-6. maybe because i use lots of old pedals - the hotter output at full volume (or close) drives them well. yeah - when i play my old Jazzmaster through the same rig, i gotta bump up one of the pedal or preamp levels to get a similar punch.

but yeah - from your settings the G&L has a fantastic tonal range - i often go to my Comanche when doing modern, clean , textural stuff - it can get very hi-fi, then in a few seconds turn all dark and smokey like an older guitar.
