Re: NGD Squier Bullet MUSTANG
So, now that these have been out a while, does anyone know which pickguard suppliers (big or small) already have templates and have made replacements for these?
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Re: NGD Squier Bullet MUSTANG
Yea, basically, I would buy one of these immediately if I could have a black/black SS config on day 1. But I'd probably want to try out the stock humbuckers for a bit for kicks based on the praise.

Ok, I gotta know - did you refinish the body, or are these available in vintage white now? I realize you finished the headstock, but I'm wondering about the body.Mr_Martin wrote:My new color/relic mod:
I only see the black and "90's blue" ones online.

congrats on the new guitar, the fretboard on yours looks much darker and nicer than the Mustang I tried the other day

I put a Duncan Distortion in the bridge wired in parallel mode (like my Jagmaster).
I removed the neck pickup and covered the hole with a photo of a humbucker.

Good news for you guys - I just had Tony at Pickguardian make me a pearloid pickguard for my new Bullet Mustang (cut for 3 G&L Z-coils). I sent him my guard to use as a template. That means that he should be able to offer you the pickguards you seek!indiandysummer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2017 10:39 amYea, basically, I would buy one of these immediately if I could have a black/black SS config on day 1. Indiandysummer, the stock HBs were shockingly decent for the money but I'm with you. I bought mine (a blue one) to use as a modding platform thanks to the swimming pool rout. G&L has sets of 3 Z-coils (the humbucking P-bass-like pickups that Leo Fender designed as the final evolution of the Electric XII's split coils) on sale for $99. I always wanted to try them, and these awesome little Mustangs were the perfect excuse.
Oh, man. I may have to pick these up for more pickup experiments. I just can't handle another plain black or white guitar, but surf green?? These things are the most insane value I have ever encountered in a guitar. I've literally paid more in the past for a single pickup than these things cost, and mine has a flawless finish, good Alpha pots, and a nice raw-feeling neck. The swimming pool rout on mine is even painted with shielding paint! All it needed was a quick fret polishing. I do like higher-ratio tuners, but these are no less accurate than my vintage Mustangs. Now that Tony has my guard on file, it'll be easy to mess around with pickup configs, too...

I don't know why I haven't seen someone try this sooner. Really good job - at a distance you'd never notice!
