New Warmoth Mustang! Surf Green!
Here is my new surf green Warmoth Mustang!
The Warmoth mustang neck was bought used years ago, and was siting around gathering dust. Then the other day I saw on the Warmoth website a surf green body for $200 so I bought it. I'm waiting to get pickups delivered in the mail and then I will wire it up and put the strings and bridge on it.
Here's a pic:

Neck pocket was a very tight fit but I didn't need to sand it out. With some coaxing the neck heel went in no problem.tribi9 wrote:Any issues with the neck pocket?

I ordered two "gray bottom 70's" strat pickups from GuitarFetish.com and some chrome mustang pickup covers from eBay. I also have a pair of white mustang knobs I"ll be using.beauzooka wrote:Nice! What pups did you go for?

Guitar is now fully assembled and wired up. I ordered some chrome mustang pickup covers from ebay, they'll replace the strat pickup covers once they come in the mail.

Beautiful!
I've been thinking about refinishing my Cyclone in the same colour, and this thread has confirmed those plans.

Well, it took 3 months but the chrome Mustang pickup covers finally arrived. Now the guitar looks like a proper Mustang.
The covers are just painted plastic. They look good now, but I have a feeling the "chrome" will quickly wear off. Anybody know if it's possible to buy actual metal mustang pickup covers anywhere? I've had no luck finding any online.
By the way, anybody know why the picture is upside down on the forum? It's hosted on my flickr account, where it is right side up.

I have searched for metal strat covers repeatedly over the years and the short answer is that the only people making them individually (and not an integrated part of a pickup like the Lace Chrome Dome) is Anotone.
They make them to order so I suppose you could ask if they can do it without polepieces holes. Not cheap, but they're USA-made out of actual aluminum, so it's not really reasonable to compare their prices to plastic Chinese covers.
The upside is that you can get some crazy colours. Seafoam and Turqoise could be interesting choices. The guitar is looking amazing as-is, FYI. Let us know how durable those covers turn out to be!

The Anotone guy got back to me and unfortunately he can't make them without holes.

That's too bad! I had been thinking about hole-less metal covers again, myself.astro wrote:The Anotone guy got back to me and unfortunately he can't make them without holes.
Does the chrome on the plastic ones look like it'll scratch off easily? Or are you just planning ahead if it does?
