This makes me happy! If there's one thing I love more than offset guitars, it's cats! They both look lovely

Orange-Ish CAR looks best. I really dislike the darker tones. CAR is not my favorite but can look amazing.

I go back and forth on this color so much - Had some questions about CAR in general so figured I might as well necro-bump, add some pics, and solicit more examples as I'm thinking of refinishing a Telecaster I have; I'm really curious to see if anyone is able to post specific examples of the finish with gold vs. silver as a base:

• What is the general difference between using a gold base vs. a silver base on CAR? Which will come out darker/lighter? Which would get closest to an orange/tangerine-ish/Marr CAR?
• Around what year did Fender switch from silver to gold as the CAR base? (Sorry if that's easy to google - I can't find it)
• What base would have been used for my '96 MIJ below?

...And here's mine! It's ok, but a bit purple-ish in certain light and also a slight bit dark for my taste all things being equal; though it looks fairly bright and fine in these pics but it's evident in the last one:

Funny how subjective colour preference is. I much prefer the deep metallic red of your guitar to the faded orange guitars you posted.

I used to have a Marr KO that I got in a trade, which I moved on largely because I couldn’t live with the colour. If it had just been standard CAR, I may have kept it.....
