Gone: Toronado (It's a Toro, after all)
Ordered this last night from CG's used section. The price was right, we'll see on Saturday what comes out of the box.

If it is what's on the picture, it should be 2004-06 Toronado Deluxe in Chrome Red, probably MIM. If it is what the description says - Coronado Hollow Body, then we'll see.

What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

A Cuitar Genter Coronado! Looks great. I always preferred the later/GT models with the small pickguards to the one that covers half the body. Without a rhythm circuit, there's no reason to cover that much wood and paint!
It would look great with a Bigsby, btw....

Me too by a slight margin, though I really like the large pg ones too. I also really liked the Fernandes Native when they were first introduced. They were kind if clumsy looking, almost a caricature of a telecaster.

So this is a 04 MIM Toronado, in a pretty good condition. It appears to be all stock except for the pickup selector, which is a CTS jazzmaster type. It has a really, really nice piece of rosewood fretboard. It's tight grain, smooth and dense, and feels great. The only weak point are the pickups (atomics), high output, and muddy. They perform much better through od/distortion, but I'm not that much into that kind of stuff. I might swap the pickups for some SD Jazz ones, or something similar.

Thanks. I'm going to have to do something bout pickups. Are Fralin Big Singles low-ish output? I'm going to have to do some research.marqueemoon wrote:Very cool. Put some Fralin Big Singles in it.

Nice! I have a Toronado GT. (2005)
I became interested in it because I previously owned a Toronado GT of another type.
I decided to find and buy one when I found out it was actually supposed to be a decent guitar. And it is! The stock Seymour Duncan pups are a nice choice. I think the reason it never sold well was because it is "not what Fender (normally) does". It is a Fender doing the Gibson thing. Had it been a Gibson, I could see it selling much better. IMHO.

Re: Upcoming NGD: Toronado (It's a Toro, after all)
Welcome to OSG wmachine! Looks like your Toro are with SD pickups of some sort, and they are probably better than the Atomics that came stock in mine. I mean, if I were to do a Slash thing with it, they totally do the job, but I'm more into "complex cleans" for the lack of better word, and might replace them when I do some homework and figure out what I want exactly.
But yeah, you got a Les Paul scale, bridge, controls and placement of them, and two humbuckers, that's even closer to LP than the Tele Deluxe.
