Rascal looking guitar?

Post by strasurf » Tue Apr 25, 2017 12:36 am

Hi,
I was wondering if it's ever existed a GUITAR looking like the Fender Rascal bass:

There's the Bass VI which it is based on, but I'm guessing you knew that. Fender never made a guitar with that body shape, but I once saw a serviceman, that is a Vietnamese Fender copy made during the war for sale to soldiers, that was a Bass VI body matched with a Jazzmaster neck.

Once I saw on the web a guitar with that exact body shape, it was olympic white, but damn I can't remeber the brand (but for sure it was not Fender...)

is it not just a jag/jm with a penis extension? i mean if you put your finger over the top inch or so of the horn in the pic it's the usual. could you not just get a standard bod, add an inch of horn then refinish?

Teisco TG-64 has the same body shape - may be tricky to find though.

The Ryan Jarman Squier guitar wasn't far off, only it had a mustang top horn instead of a Jazz Bass one.

Maybe some of those Soviet Futurama guitars from the '50's and '60's?

some people put higher gauge strings on a Bass VI and tune B-b.

you can probably get a set of heavy gauge strings like jazz players use and get it to E or D standard.
