Offsets that we're offered with really unusual finishes?

Post by Hellopike » Mon Apr 24, 2017 1:51 pm

So I'm new to offsets, I'm coming from the Telecaster side of things, and I was just wondering if Fender/Squier has ever done any runs of any of the offsets (besides the current run that is available now) in really unusual colors/finishes? And by unusual I mean anything outside the regular fender standbys- no 3tSb, lpb, sonic blue, CAR, etc... I mean like heavy flake sparkle finishes, or purples or oranges or pinks. Fender has so many crazy custom
Finished and colors but I feel like you only ever see them on Strats and Teles.... but maybe that's because that's what o know. So let me see the wild color offerings that Fender has sold. And I would like to stay we official Fender releases. No customs or Refins.

The purple sparkle Fender J Mascis Jazzmaster is the obvious one:

Nice! I guess it has to do with the overall popularity of the Stratocaster and Telecaster that you see so many variations and choices. But it's a shame because, at least in my eyes, the offsets seem less traditional and more... whimsical? More apt for experimentation on looks anyways.

Ultimately, this stems from a silly dream of mine; that one day I'd like to own at least one of all the models of the major Fender/Squier solid bodies each in an unusual non traditional but official color/finish. :)

Those are so nice, it's a shame they're all signature series. I really dig the troy van leeuwen in oxblood. I have to break out my old failure albums now.

And the Toronado GT's had a distinctly different approach to competition stripes than the Mustangs of yore:

Thanks to all for the input- there's some good ones in the mix it seems. I already have an orange Super-Sonic, so I got that base covered. I like that blizzard pearl jaguar, although the lack of traditional Jaguar controls bums me out.

This will give me some goals for down the line for sure. Like I said, my guitar of Choice is a Telecaster, and I guess I'm spoiled for options an available finishes- but you offset enthusiasts are kinda limited in what's offered. I suddenly realize what left handed players must feel...

Incidentally, my Telecaster is Silverburst. That's what got me thinking about unusual finishes.
