They sounded identical when I tried them out, and they have the same adjustable pole pieces as opposed to your standard ones.

Does anyone know if the toggle switches on these and the JMJMs would be a metric or imperial thread?

I like the color

Sure, Dakota or Fiesta would be better but I'm not opposed to this either

Fiesta Red is such a great color and I think the only stock Fender you can get in that color right now is the Nashville Tele

This reminds me of the iron man JM someone on here built ages ago.

I don't really care about Color or Pickguard. In addition to my AV65 JM I'd like to have a good Player cheapie JM for Jam Sessions & to have handy to noodle around on.

Do these have the Duncan Design Pickups like VMJM's or are they like JMJM's? Or something else?

How does the Quality Control of these Made in China Guitars compare to the Quality Control of the Made in Indonesia VMJM Guitars?

Thanks

I actually just ordered a loaded body for one of these, and am curious to see if I love it or hate it out of the box. I definitely have a strong reaction every time I see a pic of it, and the reaction is either that it looks great, or is absolutely hoorid - so, seeing it with my own eyes is going to be a surprise one way or the other. But, I couldn't say no to the price, and don't mind the CAR at all. Worst case, I wind up replacing the pickguard and/or the pickup covers.....or painting it surf green with new pickguard/pickup covers. I'm actually replacing a stolen JMJM which I loved the sound and look of, but always wished it had a 12" or compound radius neck. So, finding a brand new loaded body and having Warmoth around made my life easy.

I'm really tempted to get one and paint it in metallic brown, keep everything else stock. The ultimate '70s look.

What about the Pickups? What about the quality control compared to Indonesian VMJM's? How do they sound?? Can we talk about something other than the Color Red & the Gold Pickguard???

The main question is, Is it a good Guitar?????

From all of the info out there, it seems it is a red JMJM with medium jumbo rather than jumbo frets. I ordered it banking on it being exactly that since I loved my JMJM. There is a ton of info attesting to the quality of the JMJM (very high, mine was exceptional), as well as the sound. The pickups are hotter than the VMJM, but can still be very smooth if you lower them a touch or back off the volume a touch on the bridge pickup. The tremolo placement and steeper break angle with the TOM seems to lose a little of the JM odd ring, and sounds a little more straightforward.

Would you say the Pickups are more like the VMJM's or ?

If the quality control is on par with JMJM's it's better than the VMJM's?

The pickups are the same as a J Mascis; essentially, they're P90s in a Jazzmaster casing. Personally, I've found that the higher-end Chinese Squiers such as this, the J Mascis, the Classic Vibes etc are of a higher standard than the Indonesian-made VM Squiers. That's my opinion of course, and it's not to say that the VMs are bad, I've just owned lots of Chinese ones (CV 60s Strat, 50s Tele, 50s & 60s Precisions, 2 Matt Freeman Precisions, and now the Jazzmaster Deluxe) and have always found them to be much nicer than the VMs.

Also, the frets on the Deluxe seem too big to be medium-jumbos; I'd say they're jumbos.

Good to hear these are more like the CV Series Squiers.

I have a CV Tele which had xlnt Quality Control. Total opposite of my experience with 3 VMJM's.

I'm very interested in getting one of these Squier Deluxe JM's. Has anyone heard if there may be some other color choices coming in the near future? Although the red & gold while not being my first choice doesn't really bother me.

Thanks

All the Chinese Squiers I mentioned before (CVs & Artist models, and now the Deluxe JM) come out of the same factory and seem to be pretty consistent in terms of QC. I haven't been able to find any faults with it so far.

It's a new model for 2017 so has only been available for 3 months, so I'd be surprised if they brought out any other colours. The Artist models such as the J Mascis, Jarmans, Matt Freeman, Simon Neil & James Johnstone are apparently being discontinued, so if it's true that the Deluxe is just an exercise to use up left over J Mascis parts I'd have thought that this will only run for a short time until they're all gone.
