Bend Range Of Bass VI, Jag, JM Trem?

Post by SPudnik » Tue Nov 14, 2006 12:31 pm

[Moved from the Projects / Restoration forum]

How much bend range does the Bass VI trem typically have?

I've opted to set my [Bass VI] bridge all the way back against the body so there is no up-bending - 'can't afford to replace broken strings... Plus, the 30.3" scale doesn't seem to apply as it [bridge/saddles] need to be further back then normal to intonate properly.

I seem to get very little range - far less than a half step.
Is this normal?

When I get new strings I'll take the assembly apart and have a looksie...

Hmm, my JM seemed to be about half a step, butthat's CIJ stock.  My Jag goes no steps, but that's because it's tremulating parts are stuck together.
I prefer their older stuff.

I set mine to bend up about 1 step.  I don't use the trem lock though since I pretty much never break strings.  If you set the lock up properly it will definitely bend up less then that.
