Re: Squier unveils The Cribs signature
Thanks for sharing, Jarman. I love the Cribs and I think the majority of the decisions regarding the sig models are right. Though my girlfriend (who plays a red Cobain Mustang) thinks the colour is too girly. Oh well, maybe another colour option in the future for the burly men and women? I hope you rock them live on stage (it always troubles me when artists don't ever play their sigs). I still have to see the Cribs live but I hope you will visit the Netherlands soon.

Hey Gary, thank you for designing such a beautiful bass!
Why don't you go fo a 12-string guitar now? So there would be a chance for us, poor 12-string Fender lovers...

Wow, great to have your comment on this thread. I really like your band's music as well, and you had for a time one of my all time guitar heroes (J. Marr). His Jaguar is a really great interpretation of the instrument, and this Mus-guar signature looks like a real player with all the right kinds of different to me. The only thing I would do differently on the Mus-guar is the TOM bridge, I would have had a rocking mustang bridge in there which would be easy to mod later for a Mastery or Staytrem bridge .Nothing more rock & roll than a purple guitar though! Your bass looks awesome too. I am more of a guitar player than a bass player, but this bass could be the perfect complement to my Bass VI, it is really great that it has a medium scale length.Jarman wrote: It's cool to see that a lot of you seem to be digging the guitars - thanks a lot, and glad that you like them.
As somebody else said, here in offset guitars we love odd and unusual guitars, at least surely I do. I will try your guitars as soon as I see them in a store.

Thanks Gary for sharing those information!
Could you tell Ryan about reissuing 70's maple fretboard mustang?
Or maybe as his signature fender guitar.
Really loved Ryan's tone when playing 70's mustang.

Thanks mr. Jarman for commenting on the thread, sÜpèr cool. A question I have: will the actual production model also have the Fender branded tremolo unit?

I know! And isn't this a magical place exactly because of it ?JPCordingley wrote:You're on an Offset guitar forum - weird is what it's all about!GhostPlayer wrote:Definitely not for me. Body looks weird and I'm more into singles on bridge and humbys on neck.
I am by no means dissing this guitar! Just expressing my opinion. If we all had the same opinions, not one guitar on this forum would be weird. This place would be boring as fuck!
And top respect to The Cribs! My aesthetic views have nothing to do with the respect I have for those who designed it!

Thanks for being awesome Gary
It's really great to get a candid account of how these signature models are developed, much like the videos Jonny did for his Jag where he mentioned consulting you and your brothers!

Re: Squier unveils The Cribs signature
Thanks everyone
Regarding the tremolo unit - both prototypes have been equipped with Fender tailpieces straight from the asian plant - whether this is the case with the production run or not I can't say - but I don't believe anything will be changed from the prototypes from here on out so am hopeful and expect they will be Fender.
There were actually a bunch of different colour ideas - fiesta red and shoreline gold for the guitar (there was also very nearly a prototype made in 'apple green' an experimental colour from the originally rejected DuPont colour series from way back in the 50's) , sonic blue and sunburst for the bass, but we had to narrow it down to one. Maybe in future we can add more. For the bass colours, I wanted a tortoiseshell guard on those alternates - but don't really like the look of the modern Squier tortoiseshells, so went with Ocean Turqouise - which to my eyes looks more like a vintage LPB, which was the reason I chose the colour - like my vintage LPB mustang bass.
If the guitars are popular then Fender will do more colours hopefully - if not they will become rare obscure weirdo guitars consigned to the annals of Fender history. Not sure which eventuality I am most excited about to be honest...

Re: Squier unveils The Cribs signature
Oh, and there was brief talk about Ryan doing a signature Mustang in some kind of white/blonde with the maple neck and 70's headstock - I was also offered a signature P Bass - but it really seemed like an opportunity wasted to rehash an established shape. Was more fun to go off-piste with the designs. We were highly influenced by the Squier Vista series - the first time a bunch of strange shapes came out which were high quality and ultra affordable. We even asked Fender to bring back the Vista tag for these guitars, but again there was some kind of licensing issues. They are kinda honorary Vista series.

If the guitar is ever offered in Ocean Turquoise or Sherwood Green, I would be all over it!

Why the hell Fender would not reissue an Electric XII on the "Vista" Squier series...

I liked the designs before, and now that I know the story behind them I like them even more. I hope these are really successful and that Fender continues further down this path. I'll definitely buy the Musguar and would love to see some more variations on this theme.
