I'm about to swap pickups with Antiquity's and question if it's worth copper shielding the cavity?
I picked up a pickguard shield but I was also thinking about installing the copper tubs and tape.

The shielding paint works fine. You won't gain anything by adding a layer of copper.
This is an excellent rectangle

Hi there,
any idea how much does your Squier JMJM weigh? I just got one and i'm surprised by the weight... Not so far from 10 pounds i would say, which is quite heavy... Just curious if they all weigh the same...

They don't all weight the same. I've had about 4 of them and they vary. JM's are always heavy by nature compared to Strats or Teles, so if you're used to 7lb lightweights, you're not going to find any JM's of any sort like that.

I got mine from Sweetwater and picked the one that weighs just barely over 7 pounds.

So you noticed a difference in weight between different copies of this same model?PixMix wrote:I got mine from Sweetwater and picked the one that weighs just barely over 7 pounds.

I'm thinking about putting a set of fender pure vintage 65 jazzmaster pickups in my Squier J. Mascis . Would you recommend me to do it ? Has anybody already done it and do you have a demo ? Thanks ...

Depends on what you want to archieve - the Pure Vintage 65' Pickups sound very articulate and Vintage Jazzmaster-like while the Squier J Mascis PUs constructed like P90s and therefore have strong mids and high output...pikmin wrote:I'm thinking about putting a set of fender pure vintage 65 jazzmaster pickups in my Squier J. Yep, It's the reason why I want to change them ... I like the sound of the stock pickups but I'd like to have a more proper vintage jazzmaster sound ( more open sound ) and I can't buy another jazzmaster right now ... The best solution will be to have both . So I'm just wondering if I should change . Yep I think I will try ...NICQ wrote:Depends on what you want to archieve - the Pure Vintage 65' Pickups sound very articulate and Vintage Jazzmaster-like while the Squier J Mascis PUs constructed like P90s and therefore have strong mids and high output...pikmin wrote:I'm thinking about putting a set of fender pure vintage 65 jazzmaster pickups in my Squier J. Re: Show your Squier Mascis JM Mods/Improvements!
Hey Folks!
Brand new to the forum. My word, what an impressive resource this has been already by just browsing the last couple days. Finally got my hands on a new JMJM today.
I'm pretty set on replacing the bridge and I love what I've read about the Staytrem. Unfortunately, I emailed them today and John said the following: "We did make a conversion to fit a Staytrem bridge to a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster but I am sorry to say that this is now discontinued."
Anyone have any suggestions for a JM newb over here? Is my only hope to find someone selling their Staytrem conversion kit? Any tips appreciated. If the only option is to fill and drill I'm thinking I might as well go for the Mastery...
Thanks!

Staytrem sells conversion thimbles that drop right in, no drill required. Very surprised they didn't tell you this
