All of these look great. I'm currently in the process of turning mine into something quite different. It should be in here soon ;D

I'll take the Mascis neck over the VM neck any day. It really is amazing.

I do wish the trem was further back though, but I can live with that. Everything else I would mod on my mascis I would mod on the VM as well.

Probably yes, but i'm not the guy who wants somebody's name on the headstock....with the exception of Les Paul....

I couldn't care less about the name on the headstock. I don't even like J Mascis, lol. But the satin finish and the jumbo frets and the all around shape of the neck is just absolutely amazing. Damn thing is so easy it almost plays itself.

You aren't doing anything wrong. I bought one for an Italia guitar and had the same issue. The solution is to dremel out / widen one side (or both) from the back. I found comments from other people who had the same issue.
Good to know, I may buy a dremel, but I found another bridge, not as sleek looking, but it retains the original bridge look with rollers. I ordered it, but if I wanna switch it out, I shall try what you suggested. I've been really getting into DIYing stuff. I wanna be the kind of guy who can build or fix things for a fraction of the price. I appreciate the response too!
Sorry I missed the initial post. Mine too was not fitting initially until I shimmed the neck. Once I did that it allowed for more play due to the height that was need to accommodate the newly shimmed neck if that makes sense. It's still a bit tight but no thimble adjustment was needed. Sustain was way better as a side benefit to shimming the neck.

Recently added AVRI pickups to mine and WOW!! Huge difference. The rhythm circuit is much more usable. Tone is brighter but fuller as well. Maybe less mid accentuation.

No pic, but I just replaced the stock vibrato mechanism & arm for a Japanese-made unit, as I wanted the locking feature (I like to tinker with tunings).

No further mod plans for mine. The TOM-style bridge has been fine, no string tuning/binding problems when I use the vibrato.

P.S. I'm so happy with my JMJM instrument. The neck feels great, and I'm a P90 fan so these pickups are A-OK in my book.

The tort shells really look spectacular. I want to do this on mine. Do you need any sort of shielding behind it?

Yes. I just use spray adheasive with aluminum foil and adhere it to the back of the guard. Cheap and works like a charm.
