Here's a pretty obscure lp-cover showing the inimitable (he held his guitar on his lap and played it with his thumbs!) Mr. 'Thumbs' Carllile -

That's Evan Foster of the Boss Martians.  The Boss Martians started out as a pretty trad vocal/instro surf band and did a couple of albums in that style before moving in a garage punk direction where they currently are.  Cool stuff!
