Got this recently - NGD

Fender's tort is getting so much better - it still has the black swirly parts, so it'd be nice if they could somehow flush some of the extra colors out and make this only red and yellow, but it looks amazing compared to the stuff I was seeing a few years ago

Image

and look at this flake! I always just assumed this was CAR with some black thrown in under the trans red, but I've never ever seen a CAR with any kind of real flake before

Fuckin beautiful everyone

Weird because I love how it looks but I'm so attached to the Jag and the whiteboy that I haven't been gelling with this new guy. I have it listed in the FS section but I don't know if I could actually part with it. To me it's hands down the coolest looking thing Fender has going right now and the build quality is astonishing - easily tops any American Standard I've ever held - I think my hands are just built for Squier play :) :) :)

Is that the Troy Van Leeuwen model? Looks redder than I remember. Is there anything specific about it that you don't care for?

I agree, the finish and even the tort on the TVL are a sight to behold. Of course, because I can't leave well enough alone (or stand the thought of having an artist signature clone), I just bought a mint green guard and regular 2-way rhythm switch to try on it :fp:

The uniqueness of the finish and the B&B were what sold me on trying it, and the incredible build quality is what convinced me to buy it. I vastly prefer it to the feel of the American Special JM I had, which I ended up trading after I bought the TVL.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the guitar at all, it's just my preference is the Mascis JM there. I know the JMJM neck has been hyped to death, but every positive comment has been earned because it's the best most comfortable guitar I've ever played.

That's really a great looking Guitar! It's great to see one of those great 50's - 60's colors! Wish Fender would give us more of them....

Enjoy,

Lars

Was Oxblood ever offered on a vintage Fender? I've never seen an Oxblood paint chip in the old Fender books, and have never seen any vintage Fender guitar or bass in that finish.

I don't think they did but it's closer to the spirit of the old ones I'd say than doing the same old shit all the time

I don't think they did either. But it's in the Spirit of colors from the early days... Which makes yours a one of a kind killer looking Guitars. Congrats!

Wish Fender would do way more 50's & 60's cool Car Colors!
