Hey folks!
Two things:
1) it happens very often that I can't see pictures posted by other members at all - is the link broken - or is it just something my MacBook Pro fails to display?
2) I'm quite successful with uploading photos using imgbb (way better than photo bucket imho and free) but I failed to upload an avatar/a profile pic - as I can't get the pics so small even when using photoshop and trying to downsize it the maximum possible...
what am I doing wrong? What do I have to do to succeed?

Try making sure that the links you insert end in a file name extension, i.e. ".jpg", ".bmp", etc

Is there a sticky with the current method for inserting images?
This thread had a short instruction from 2006, and then many pages of frustration mixed with successfully loaded images.
Is the method now the same as in 2006?
IOW we cannot post without a third party hosting site?
If I need a host, is photobucket still the best option?
Sorry, I'm slow with this stuff...
Thanks!

OK so I opened an imgBB acct and loaded some pics there.
Couldn't see any url for the pics so I googled.
Found various freaked out users who had uploaded pics to imgBB and then couldn't take them down, followed by others saying imgBB will steal your images and sell them if they're worth anything.
Next, I searched on the site until I found an url, then cut and pated the url onto a post, but it came up as a link.
So then I used the [img][img] option in the osg controls, cut and pasted the link there.
Works!
I'll make it a point to not upload any pics I don't want used by anyone onto imgBB...
