OK finally... here we go. Some aren't too good, and i think he might be thinking the factory routes are also caused by these bastards. Some are blurry... but some are GLORIOUS nice. I'll get the DVD in about 2 weeks when we visit my GF's parents. Then I'll take pics and/or video of it all to see WHERE the hell i need to fill up more shit.
Have fun... here we go!
i got high hopes when i got this one, it's SO clean... like SY's...
close up
another nice clear one
BASTARDS!!! doc sez the white parts are metal and the parts that i used wood filler
this one's cool, too
oh this one REALLY HURTS!!! Hollowbody, anyone!?
...and that's all for now.
...in other bad news, the Bigsby i got from FenderBob was returned to the USA (long story short; customs are assholes and bureaucrats), but hopefully i'll have it here soon enough, and i got time to fix the massive stuff in the meanwhile.

Those are Speed Holes. They help the guitar play faster.

Re: woodworm damaged Tele restoration NOW W/ X-RAYS!
Incredible to finally see the xrays!!!
The body wouldn't worry me too much, but that neck is definitely suspect. Hopefully more xrays will give you a deeper insight. You almost need a 3D model to really get an idea in some area.

Re: woodworm damaged Tele restoration NOW W/ X-RAYS!
I reckon you will be all right Pat - the body clearly has a couple of holes but it's 95% solid wood, hollow bodies are 95% air and hold string tension fine. Likewise the neck - if you think about it there is a pull on the tuner pegs and a pull from the truss rod to prevent bowing - it just has to hold its length under compression, and clearly it's doing that just fine. Necks made of mahogany and other softer woods are up to the job, so a piece of hard maple has way more strength than needed. Also the borers went along the grain, meaning the strength of the wood isn't affected much (think of a girder, it's strong and resists bending despite the sides being hollowed out to a thin rib between the top and bottom surface). Really, twisting and warping is the only likely problem, and you will know about that pretty quickly.

^ Should be nice and lightweight too.

This has got to be one of the craziest cases of guitar damage ever. Unbelievable. I bet Fender would love to run a story about this guitar.
