I don't really know
I do have a "black-wire-going-into-the-wood-in-direction-of-the-trem-cavity" :D

Will see tomorrow about being precise on that!!

God, that turned out beautiful, Paul!
Also, as I just scrolled through the pics, I noticed I have the same soldering iron/station as yours. Which doesn't add much info to the thread, but anyways:)

oh, thanks! I am really enjoying this guitar :) Have just added a pair of brass rollers (probably not everybody's cup of tea but I like it so far).

The soldering station is a generic Chinese one which I got 2nd hand. I've seen similar ones under at least a dozen of different brand names over the years, they all look the same somehow just different displays and logos :D Even the (overpriced) one that Stewmac is selling comes from the same factory, obviously ...

And some details now:

I'm beyond happy.
I thank Paul for his kind, tremendous and huge help (should I say "patience"?? :D ) about the whole wiring process.

Anyway,
Now I have to put some foam under the pickups (I forgot to buy some, but I have some foam here which might fit).
I have to buy strings too :fp: . I was only thinking to build the guitar, not to play it :fp: :fp: :fp:

And then I might change the pickguard...
Maybe a black one afterall...or a tort one...because tort plates + tort guard = more tort :w00t: !!!!!!

YAY! I enjoyed giving advice.
Looks really cool already but definitely try out a darker PG too (as mentioned by you).
But now, get some strings and make a sound clip!!! :)

;) :

strings + foam + shielded pg = Jaguar project completed = my new forever #1 (until next one :D )

It kills my gas for any other Jag, that's for sure (unless I run into a cheap 60's extra yellowed OW).

I'll try to make a sound clip...but for now, I'm just enjoying :-* .
As for the pickguard, I'm even considering a gold one now.
I think it might be wise to not rush the things and take my time to choose the right pickguard...

Anyway,
It was a great journey.

Are you decided with wether or not you'll keep the white pickguard?
You have to now...

Some esthetic testings here as well, on the pickguard...with a custom (removable ;) ) sticker, from the Black Angels' "Clear Lake Forest" pattern (on the inside of the EP)

As I say, it's just a test.
Picture this in black or gold/brown, centered with the pickups, and well cut.

It looks like this on the guitar:

Soooo...
Is it a "yay" or is it a "nay"??

I'm expected brutal and honest truth here, because I don't really know what to think about it.
Sometimes I think it's too much with the tort plates, sometimes I think it looks great (when I picture this in a darker color).

I have another option,
I've put my CIJ Gold Pearl pickguard on it...and I really like it.
I think I'll order a custom one made with US specs...

Anyway,
Thougts?

I say nay on the first one, I don't like it. Your guitar is too classy for that pickguard, I think it distracts from the beautiful lines of the guitar. The second option is intriguing, I think a plain gold anodized pickguard would look killer in this guitar with your tort control plates. A plain black pickguard would also work really nicely here.

That's what I am thinking deep down.
To tell the truth I had a discussion with a friend (the one who did the sticker), she is the great mom of a great little girl which is one of my son's classmate/BFF.
She makes stickers and stuffs for a living and we talked about creating some stickers for pickguards.
I didn't know she was so serious about this, but we took a picture of a pattern I liked, and she came to me with the sticker.
Then she kept asking me if I did the test...and now I finally did.
I was kind of stuck with this :D !!!

So, I think it might be great, but not for that guitar...it's too much.

I'm a pickguard freak, I am never happy with them, I'm very picky. I used to really don't like black pickguards, and gold pickguards with chrome hardware...but with this one I'm really into black, I guess.
I will order a cheap chinese one (and maybe a gold one too :fp: ) and see how it looks!!!

Anyway,
Thank you for helping me to see I was maybe hitting the wrong road :D ;)

Dude, It is really whatever you like. I think this guitar is going to be great. The worn finish is spectacular.

If you have a black ply pickguard with the white bevel strip, it really ties the guitar together. Black goes great with the tort control plates, the white bevel would be enough to delineate the pickguard outline upper right edge against the black worn finish, and the bevel would tie well with the parchment pickup covers and fingerboard dot inlays. But looks are subjective of course, so whatever rocks your boat. This guitar is looking great to me though, and how you had it originally, with the plain parchment pickguard looked great too.
