Mustang restore/partsmaster

Post by CROSS_guitars » Fri Oct 16, 2015 9:42 pm

I have been collecting random Mustang parts and have slowly been piecing it together.

I started off with a Musicmaster body, which was badly chizzled but in otherwise good condition.
I plugged the rout and re routed it for a single-coil.

Jump ahead a few months. I routed the bridge for a mustang tremolo.
Cleaned the body up. Sanded most of the old paint off. And sprayed it with white primer.

This is an Allparts Jaguar neck which I finished in tinted nitro. I applied a repro 64 decal.

Image

I bought a can of Pelham blue nitro spray paint. I am a bit dissapointed because it turned out to be lake placid blue.

Here it is in contrast with a nice yellowed pearl pickguard.

Here it is at the moment. I need to spray heaps more clear on.

Thanks.
Love your collection. Is this a Zhivago Hottie?

I was very close to painting this sonic blue.

Looks great and nice work with rerouting the bridge pickup cavity. The one done prior to you getting the body is just a big mess. But I guess that's what happens when a youngster get a sudden urge to play heavy metal... :fp: :D :w00t:

Nice work, the color looks more like Cobalt Blue to me than Lake Placid Blue, which has more of a greenish tint with metallic flake.

I was expecting a lighter shade, like robocop blue. Oh well.
I might tint it a bit with the clear coat just to make it greener and more vintage vibey.

Looks great, but does that jaguar neck work on the mustang body? did you have to move the bridge? or did the scale just match..? cause i always wanted a nice mustang, but i dont like that shortscale necks. might wanna put a jazzmaster scale neck on it :?
:D Gotta love them Offsets :D

It totally works with a Jaguar neck. They are the same scale.
