Fender Mustang 1964 Restoration!

Post by Tisacsson » Mon Jul 27, 2015 10:13 am

Hello gentleman!

I recently bought a Fender mustang body from 1964 that I'm gonna restore back to original.
Unfortunately the original lacquer is sanded down. What kind of lacquer should i go with? i really like sea foam green, but I'm not 100% shure, maybe i go with the original dakota red, what do you think?

I dont think the blue color thats left on the guitar is the original thats why i said Dakota red, cause thats
One of the original colors.

I agree with you that daphne blue is pretty cool! Are you 100% thats one of the three original colors?

I was just about to buy this until I realised I didn't have enough money to restore it! Haha! But it's good to see that it went to someone who knows their stuff!

I say go daphne blue, something about that colour and mustangs :?

I'd have chosen Olympic White (one of the original colours) with a Spitfire Tort guard.

Thanks but I'm not a fan of white guitars.

i couldn't 100% swear it's daphne, but mustangs were originally issued in red, white and some sort of blue, which is easily the coolest imo.

Cool start to a project!

That mustang is super cool! Do anyone know if there was any mustang with matching headstock during 1964?

maybe it originally was another colour, but i recommended blue because there is so much of it on the body AND it was an original colour.
besides, you can never go wrong with blue..... :)
