I am going to agree with Crackwhore up here. I gotta tell you, I have been losing sleep over how lucky you are, OP. I had a dream recently that it was me who found this gem. Lucky, Lucky man.
Dude, he just called Pat a crackwhore :D

I would bring it back to 1963/64 specs. It's amazing your brother found this thing under the couch in an abandoned house. Good luck with it! :w00t:

Well I dont have much of an update, but I have determined that all Im going to do to it is clean up the grime and gunk(it's really nasty) without modifying the finish, clean and de rust the electronics (thankfully both pickups work, yay!), and do my dead level best not to do anything to detract from its original value that cant be easily reversed. Since I plan on playing the shit out of this thing when I'm done with it, There are some minor things Im going to do. I've already got a set of reissued relicd single line klusons, and Im going to buy the one missing original kluson to complete the original set if I ever get rid of it. I'm also putting a Staytrem bridge on it and will probably grab the trem bar while Im at it. Will probably get a bone nut custom cut for it, and I need a vintage switch tip. I've acquired a beautiful headstock decal for it as well. That's about it, now it's just a matter of finding the time and space to get it started. I welcome any input or comments, and I'll post some pics when I get started.

Try to clean the plates by using Coke (the "real" one with sugar) and a kitchen sponge! First I didn't believe that this will work but it did! I cleaned a rusty Vintage Mustang plate with that method. Too bad that I didn't make a video or a before picture.

But look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7OdX42NjWQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I works! Seriously! ( but take the metal part off the guitar first ;) )
But I wouldn't this this with the pots / electronics ...
try it with the trem plate...
